there's some great names on here incidentally, nicked the name 'concernedincardiff' from the old Esther Rantzen show 'That's Life' where folk would send letters in moaning about stuff and then signed them....confused in Liverpool or annoyed in Newcastle. The one that I always remember was someone writing in about the litter Cardiff city fans were leaving on Sloper road and they signed it.....concerned in Cardiff. I liked it anyway!! Granted over the years I have had many reasons to be concerned about my beloved Cardiff City but I sense greater things are coming our way and perhaps a change to moreoptimisticincardiff!!
Mind you i have been concerned about you being concerned for quite some time now, i nearly changed my name to worriedinwaunarllwydd but then realised i am not from waunarllwydd so decided to stay as Mabonjack
Got mine in the army, for most of the time I was "Taff" but an influx of Taffs meant some clever thinking on my English colleagues part, they just couldn't use my given name. Fish cam from some movie and then a program on TV has a Welsh character called Pike the Fish, ergo taffthefish, simples peeps. By the way if anyone knows the program please let me know.
Well mine's pretty obvious coming from my profession choice made back in '72 (not that I was "old" at the time mind). Come to think of it, I'm not even old now compared to some of the duffers on here. I think I'll change it to Youngsparkey.........
Mine came from Blue (for obvious reasons), and Prophet was the racing name of the first rescued greyhound we had, He was a handsome old dog, who had been a champion in his younger days, so it seemed to fit My Missus thinks it fits as well, but for different reasons, the moment the dog left the house it used to make straight for the pub, it never did what it was told, never did anything around the house, and never came home when it was supposed to
I'm aweful at picking names, so I picked the first Welsh word that came to my head. It means Hero. Not that i've done anything heroic lately. Although since I started watching Cardiff, I've seen us go from the bottom league to 1 win from the prem I'm a lucky charm.
One of the best I've seen was a Hearts fan whose name was "Heart of Madlithuanian" in honour of their barking mad owner
Used to be one on the Leicester board (dunno if he/she is still about) called GloriaLestafan - I always thought that was a classic fair play.
On the BBC site I registered before reading anything and had no idea what names people were going by, so just came up with mine as we only had a while left at The Old Lady and I wanted to pay some respect... Somebody later tried to call themselves 'The Ghost of Ninian Park' or something, so I started a thread about name etiquette...in jest but to the point! I didn't see that name appear again afterwards, but didn't bother checking their user number to see if they popped up under another Sue Denim??? If that person is reading this, what did you change your name to afterwards out of interest...???
A couple I've not spotted on here are BobbyDangles, and a very old one GarageonSloperRoad - are you guys still about under another name?
I've had several names on 606, (for various reasons ) I started off as BluebirdBluemoon, as I have a soft spot for Man City and often went to Maine Rd when I lived there, and couldn't get to Cardiff, I've had I think it's 12 names but I reverted to Blue Prophet when I came on to not606 as it was my 1st reincarnation and the one that lasted the longest
On 606 i was Tomanddadbluforever. so on the new forum i decided to use a different name. I racked by brains for days and days, i spent hours going through old programmes from the 70's and 80's looking for inspiration, and there it was lurking in the bottom of prized football collections, the badge, the famous badge and Yes folks, I actually did see Ronny Moore score. Now wheres the medicine cabinet again !!
Mine's just a play on words I've used since I was a kid.. Benni (spelt with an I cuz i thinks it sounds cool innit ) comes from a derivative of Bennett (Surname) And the factor thing? Well you've got a benefactor and the Benni-factor..
