Well I've said before & I'll say again, in my view that was a big risk. J has let us down in the last 2 years (not his fault) & we were gambling on him again. Charlie with his injury record was always gonna be a gamble. And to expect Redmond to hit the Mane heights? Christ if I took those risks in my business, I'd have been sacked years ago. Just MO.
Fair enough if that's your genuine assessment of his abilities. I completely disagree, and presumably so do our coaching staff and manager, but it's all about opinions and you are certainly entitled to yours.
Absolutely spot on, every single saints fan I know thought we were a striker light. Especially as we were trying to play that ridiculous 4-4-2 diamond at the start of the season. Hard to believe a recruitment department that has got so much right in the last few years got it so badly wrong this time.
Performs one in four? Liverpool Burnley Norwich Leicester Liverpool!! Holy **** he's gonna send us to Wembley isn't he?!
Okay I get why the cups don't excite you or me in early stages.... but bloomin hell..I'd take defeat today and next week if it meant winning at Anfield. Your obviously cleverer than me....I've spent a lot more cash watching Saints than you (I'm not bragging...I'm older than you)
I don't think we can lay this one on Puel. Our final ball just wasn't good enough. However we where solid at the back, and our midfield closed them down. No way did Burnley deserve to win this, but they took the one chance, they basically had in the whole game. If we don't arrest this slide, we could plummet down the league. We need to freshen up the squad.
What some don't get is, we lost basically half our goals from last season. We then didn't replace them (really). The board should have gone with what they were going to do, which was loan Jay and get a player in.
Sorry but I'm not buying that excuse. Pochettino very obviously managed to change our style of play and get the side playing his way in just a couple of weeks. Koeman managed the same, although it wasn't as big a change. Puel had a full pre-season with the team to get his ideas across. It's only 2 or 3 years since we were laughing at teams who claimed their new managers needed time to turn things around. Completely disagree about RB. Cedric has been very good this season. I agree our strikers are goal shy and lacking confidence but that's not the reason for our style of play. Are our results and form all down to Puel? No. Is the style of play? Yes.
I think we should have kept Jay and brought in someone new. On the other hand though, I don't think anyone could have predicted quite how **** Shane Long could become. He's been absolutely horrendous all season.
My tongue was reasonably firmly in my cheeks of course. Nothing stops me watching Saints. That said, I genuinely cannot recall a player who has wound me up quite as much as Redmond does. Of course I want him to improve and succeed and to do both of those with us but I'd rate the chances of that happening as marginally greater than zero. For all the chat of our less gung-ho approach, the fact is that we are still creating chances and attacking in numbers quite frequently. What use is that when we are all too often relying on him to find a teammate or shoot on target, two things he is really struggling to do.
whom was the striker they were talking to in the summer? The deal was done I believe then things changed on the deal
The board making Puel rely on Jay and Shane is my biggest gripe. It's why I will kind of stick up for him until it is sorted.
