It's about time that Puel realised Long can't play up front on his own. Everyone else has known it for about... His whole career
Well no because we are debating resting players in the league. If we rest players then we obviously aren't going to get relegated but could well slip to 14th. Realistically our season will end with us finishing anywhere between 7th-16th and either winning a cup or not. So the question of risking league form and potentially finishing bottom half in order to improve our chance of a cup win is perfectly valid. The biggest moment in saints history is the 1976 cup win, not last season when we finished 6th!
Long and Rodriguez are basically the same. Long can run, but goes wandering. Rodriguez can't run but stays more in the area. Still neither can score. Stephens is young and will improve.
No. I think the style Puel likes is slow, dull and ineffective. He's the coach. He's gone for this style. You think it is up-tempo, exciting and effective? Fine. I don't. If the coach wants them playing a different way, he has to coach them to do it.
Indeed. Not least because the absolute best we could realistically finish this season is 7th. Which potentially results in a EL qualifying place (if the FA Cup winner comes from the top six). Whereas winning the League Cup results in, erm, a definite EL qualifying place.
No shame in losing by the odd goal at Burnley, they are in the top 5 for home games. It is disappointing that we couldn't convert our chances though. It will turn around, we just need some breaks to go our way, but I am getting more than a little concerned at Fraser's apparent lack of authority and confidence, just a shame that Alex McCarthy is out atm.
So we rest players against Leicester & probably Norwich as well. Personally I've no interest in FAC but if we lose vs Foxes & then "slip" out of EFL Cup by the "usual near miss" we will be in big trouble. Yes, I am worried we're losing our sails & oars.
Rotating is what I said. I also said most the players are the same, which is true. It's why we hardly see a change with the amount of times we rotate. Van Dijk is our only stand out player.
I do agree with people though that it's not all doom and gloom. If it was a one-off performance I wouldn't be so annoyed, just write it off as a difficult away game. It's the predictability of it all, which to me indicates that something is going badly wrong.
Unbelievable???..90 mins a from Wembley final and you don't give a f**k!!! Do you actually go to Saints games and support them???...or just come and on here and try to look clever???
I know you are venting, but in the spirit of my new pact that Shad made me sign, where I won't blindly defend the manager and club, I think it fair that people who are unhappy should try and control their venting. Just take a deep breath and think before posting. Keep a discussion going or raise some key points. It works I don't think there will be one of us who isn't bitterly disappointed. We all support Saints.
