Possibly. But I think it's hard to make that judgement with any conviction when (imo) Puel hasn't been given all the tools he needs. Our squad is very midtable, and that's where we sit.
Can't agree too much Romsey really. If we had won or drawn that with a goal, we'd be saying it wasn't good performance but ok. I am not happy, just trying to get people to have a little perspective on it. We still created enough to score a goal or two. We're just not scoring, or creating lots of chances. For anyone thinking I am just trying to be positive, I'm not as it wasn't great. I'm just pretty calm about the fact we need more creativity in the team and ideally to play at a quicker pace going forward, but we ere not poor. School report would say, "could do better" rather than "really bad in class"
Not sure. I wouldn't be against playing a second string against Leicester. Liverpool is the priority.
I'm generally positive and you won't find me overreacting or thinking solely in the short term. However, it is pretty normal to have negativity after losing 4 league games in a row whilst scoring just 2 goals and conceding 10.
Dare I say, we try to walk the ball into the net too much? Also, so many times today (and over the season actually), Bertrand, or Cedric or Martina etc, get up to right inline with the 16 yard box, pause, and then cross. I'd much prefer for them just to run up a bit more towards the goal line and then cut it back or whip it in with pace.
A first season in a new country, new league, and we're one game away from a major final and mid table in the PL. It's frustrating yes, but hardly a disaster. We need another goalscorer which is the bottom line.
Could do better but in real danger of falling down the class if not getting the critical points down.
I blame the board for that. Puel has no say about selling 99% of players. Long as they realise their mistake and sort it in the window, I will be happy.
Don't know about now, but playing slow and dull was the intent at the start of the season. He said so himself; with our fixture pileup it was important that we keep possession and control the tempo to limit fatigue.
If puel mentions bad luck in his post match interview I really will lose it. Occasional defeats and slip ups are bad luck, 4 league defeats in a row are a real problem.
Very much agree with this. I think that's what changed after the goal. We'd been attacking before but after the goal we started to play with a bit more urgency.
Whilst I completely agree with you, at what point do we go from being "unlucky" to being "completely usless in front of goal"...? Our possesion football would be brilliant if we could just score every once in a while!!
Saints didn't deserve to loose that one! Clearly the better team. The final ball was not good enough, however it is was great to see the midfield pushing forward, to supplement the attack. And finally, why oh why, was it that prick Barton, to get the winner!!!!
Indeed. Aside from not being willing to ever start Long and Jay together (has no-one told Puel that Long seems to work best with a guy alongside him), I'm not sure what else Puel can do. This is the fault of whoever messed up our summer transfer window - so I'm assuming Les.
