FFS. Every window is the same. I think we have our scout preferences clicked on Midfield. Someone needs to untick that so AN can see players for other positions! He's alright. Hard worker, reminds me a bit of Andrew Crofts. He's definitely not what we desperately need, unless Tetty or Howson are going. Which wouldn't surprise me. We do miss a bit of fight and leadership in the middle at times, and he has plenty of that. If we had already signed a CB and a LB, and maybe a striker. Then it came up that he's a target, I wouldn't be that unhappy with him, because I think he would add something. He shouldn't be the first signing though! One time scummer as well! Edit - Saying that, he is the kind of player I've been wanting us to sign. About 25-26? Very good at Championship level, potential to improve so either increase value, or step up in the Premiership. I think he is the kind of player who might make a fist of it in the top flight.
Likewise Tyrone Mings, who has been linked on loan. But given the choice at LB between Mings, Martin or Whittaker...I'd have the Binner every time
Yea, I said a few pages ago, I don't care if he's full of Ipsh*t, he's a great young player who would more than cover Olssons absence.
Villa and Wednesday looking at him too apparently. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
I thought we were talking about our massive void, or soon to become so, in the LB position. I thought you meant AV and SW were looking at loaning Mings, too edit - we don't need / I don't really care about Hourihane goss. If we sign an A.M. - without disposing of at least one (and I don't just mean farming Maddison out to Sweatyland again) I shall get incredibly .
Sounds like we've seen the last of our Swedish maestro in a yellow shirt Ian Dennis @Iandennisbbc Both Martin Olsson and Tom Carroll were in Swansea last night. Their deals "are close" from Norwich City and Tottenham respectively #Swans
Well, Marcus Evans did say he was going to make cash available. Nice to know he's as good as his word
I wouldn't knock it. They do far better in the transfer windows than we ever do. Turn nothing players into big money players.
Mings first ever start for Bournemouth. He was totally sold for the first goal, then scored an own goal. I am now more positive than ever we will sign him on loan. He will fit right in here!
Hourihane is a CM, not an AM, and we do need players there. At £1m it seems a good deal for a skillful and hard-working player with good leadership qualities. If Howson's ankle injury is serious, we are down to one CM in Tettey (who of course is a DM) and he's on 9 yellows at the moment so that one more and he's suspended. Mulumbu's contract expires in the summer and may well leave. If Villa and SW are interested in Hourihane we may have to look elsewhere, but a CM should be our top priority at the moment. If not Hourihane, then perhaps a CM on loan for the rest of the season with a possible permanent deal in the summer like the Dorrans deal 2 years ago.
Well, half way through this transfer window and so far, we've (virtually) sold an international left back, his international deputy is allegedly hot property and looks likely to go as well, and we have an aging third-choice right back ready to step in and fill the breach - who, according to Paddy D and Michael B, was largely responsible for both goals yesterday. Way to go, Ricky and the team, keep it going for the next 15/16 days
Possibly two, Rick? Tettey, as you say is (once again) walking the disciplinary tightrope, Howson crocked, Dorrans out and Thompson, having had one MOTM performance, is supposedly still out injured. Mulumbu in Africa. Bozo is clearly reluctant to see Ben Godfrey a) given a chance, and b) pushed forward into a CM role, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Steven Whittaker deployed there versus Wolves - and we all remember the last time he got the nod in midfield!!
I think Godfrey could get his chance in the cup game, Cromer, but for me that's still a square peg. With Thompson back in training and Mulumbu back in two weeks, we will have other options soon, so one CM is enough for now, IMO, given priorities elsewhere. Brady is another who has filled in at CM in an emergency, and that could happen in the cup game, but we still need a CM quickly.
I seem to remember AN saying that Thompson had an abdominal injury, so wasn't even able to undertake light training - it's possible he may be back for the Brum game. I haven't a clue what is wrong with Godfrey as to why he doesn't get selected - the same as some of the other younger players who put in a great performance on Thursday.
*wavelength 2 alert* A tweet from James Finbow, (used to be Superman in his Grant Holt onesie on here ) along those very same lines Jimbob Hedgehog @JamesFinbow 2h2 hours ago @MickDennisReal @GLeeder1 @StewartLewis2 @Chazza454 if he (AN) threw 3 or 4 younger players in it'd probably do him, and us, the power of good.
But what's to lose - for him or the fans, FFS? They proved hopelessly inadequate last season in the top flight, and they clearly can't even hack it at this, lower level. So why the hell not?
