Unmarked? there was a defender between cedric and jrod, i agree the option cedric took was wrong but to say jrod was unmarked is a stretch, Cedric should have blasted low to the far corner chances are the defender would have slid in and scored an own goal before jrod could have got there.
I know what you mean but I'm not sure if you can actually practice "split-second decision-making'. I reckon you've got it or you haven't which is why he's playing for us and not Real Madrid. He played well though and was involved throughout. I thought he did very well for his goal in terms of his decision making.
Seriously? That amazes me, this are the fun times, losing in games like this can be gut wrenching, but not disastrous. Those last day escape jobs used to cause me sleep deprivation, mood swings & add to that a fair bit of drinking and smoking. I don't feel well suited to that anymore, but semi finals, stuff of dreams mate.
I get it in the ear from the missus if I'm too loud. So I just don't bother with footy at home these days, especially teams like Liverpool as some of my family support them. I won't watch the second leg out of superstition now.
I can't blame any player going for a bit of glory. Cedric definitely chooses to shoot at the near post though, which in sense is odd, but also understandable. Part of the thing about shooting is doing what the keeper doesn't expect you to do. The coaching manual says you make the keeper work by shooting across the goal. In last night's incident, that was almost certainly the best option. A dragged shot might have brought JayRod into play, or the ball could have bounced off defenders chasing back. Or it could have gone in at the far post. But despite all that advantage, Cedric wanted to do the unpredictable and shoot at the near post. If it had come off we would have thought the lad was a little hero, and brave for doing the unpredictable. He needs to score a goal to get the temptation out of the way. He's shot at the near post a few times this season, and hit the side netting twice, IIRC.
That was my thought at the time and also my thought from the replay; it would have taken a sublimely accurate pass to get to Jay. Given how accurate the shot was I wouldn't be betting any money on it. Vin
Mine too, but Cedrics shot should have been on target. Even for a rb it was poor. Great move though, fast flowing football, the random drug testers were waiting in the tunnel.
