Our midfield is well suited to the trench warfare type of match against the top sides digging in and breaking on the counter. Problems come against the sides we should beat when the creative spark is missing in central midfield. That triangle of Davis Clasie Romeu was perfect for last night but can be hopeless in other games when we have to take the initiative to lesser sides Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
Yeah it's not over, if you can play like that again I'd still back us to get a goal at home. Have to give you credit though it wasn't that we were ****, you made us ****.
Pisses me off that when ever Saints beat one of the `big boys`, it`s always about how bad the other team played, not how good Saints were.
NEVER DOUBT MY LITTLE TINGLE!! Well, that was an odd game of football, really. Saints play like an away team, but it worked. Liverpool were toothless and I pray they keep the same midfield for second leg because it was truly awful. Played our strongest most experienced team and WON. Please do that more often Mr Puel. Maybe even play the same team on Saturday? Go on. No daft mistakes at the back, no gifting possession, Forster saved the first shot he faced and Redmond actually scored (shame he didn't score more). So everything went right that had previously been going wrong. That's football. Much to do in the second leg. Liverpool won't be THAT bad again. But the foot is in the Wembley door.........
The whole Klopp "message on the bit of paper" was one of the most bizarre things I've seen. I had to watch it on TV this morning to take in the full comedy of it. Why didn't he just call over his players whilst the Saints player was getting treatment? He clearly confused Sturridge more than informed him. He is an odd manager and his post match comments to Sky were rambling nonsense as well. He was very rattled.
Ah right, yeah probably. The Echo isn't reporting it like that though, they are being quite harsh on us and giving you credit. When a team defends like that and also carries a threat going forward it's going to cause any team problems.
Well, I was wrong about the atmosphere - it was good throughout. Maya made one bad pass about five minutes in and a bloke tried to start "José Fonte baby" but sang it very much on his own. Apart from that, no complaints. I think the way we came out of the blocks made a huge difference. However, the number of people at the end saying, "That'll show Puel he shouldn't rotate the squad" was bewildering given there were seven changes from the Norwich game. A good, entertaining match with both sides trying to win. I have to say that I do rather like Klopp's style. Considering what many fans were expecting it was a lovely result. We're a game away from Wembley! Woo-hoo! Vin
