Brilliant performance, very good result but slightly disappointed we aren't taking a 2 or 3 goal lead to Anfield. But we can do this!!!!! VVD and Romeu brilliant again. Both full backs were very good too. Maya very solid which was pleasing.

Tom, what did you think of the ref. He appeared poor to a biased Saints fan, particularly in the first half, no biggies, but just seemed to give every 50\50 to pool

Great performance tonight, team showed desire and belief. They played for Puel. One of the best things for me was watching J-Rod, he is getting back to his best and adding something else to his game leading the line.

At home in my favourite chair with a glass of scotch and feeling well pleased. The lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov is in the kitchen making a bite of supper and singing away with "Oh when the Saints". A very enjoyable evening.

    Ecstatic with 1-0.

We're not through yet, but for me that was one of the performances of the season. Everyone put in a brilliant effort tonight, no one had a bad game.

Buzzing for Anfield! We can do this!

Very fitting we scored in the 20th minute. A nice tribute to Jack.

Such a shame we did not get s second. The game after our second leg is Chelski. This weekend they have Utd and then a trip to Plymouth. I just think at 2-0 Klopp might have written this one off.

But every faith in the boys, I think they really want this one

Yes Peul got in right tonight, subs at the right times. J Rod looks like he's adding more to his game, very impressed tonight.

VVD fantastic as usual, yoshi had a good game and will only get better with regular miniutes.

Romeu his usual self. Redmond took his goal well, maybe should have had more but promising for the future. His workrate was up there with anyone on the pitch.

Thought Frazer looked far more composed tonight, even if he didn't have a lot to do.

    COYR we can do this!

Did I see the beginnings of a partnership between JRod and Redmond, Tadic however was on a different page. Redmond has his doubters but he puts in a shift helping out the fbs, yoshida with a priceless interception at full stretch and getting his big toe to the ball was my moment of the match. The team looked happier today, almost confident

Now the ref is really going to get some grief from us. Although nothing game changing, he missed loads! V/poor.

    A very, very good performance.
This, hitting teams on the counter, epitomises (IMO) everything that Claude is trying to turn the team into. The only thing that stopped it from being a perfect way to play Liverpool, was the lack of goals. Redmond deffo should have had 3 and Cedric going for the near post, when aiming for the far post would have enabled JRod to tap in, had me screaming.
Despite it only being 1-0, this has given me real hope for the return, because they now know how easily we can cut them open, which may well affect their performance.
Not going to have a moan at Redmond, because his overall performance was good, but he really, really needs to track Milner's runs, something Tadic did well on the occasions they swapped sides. Fortunately Milner was wasteful with his use of the ball, but on another day he will cause a lot of problems.

After Jay-Rod injuries I did suggest he would need to alter his game. I'mm sure Puel would have had a word with him about how he can develop further as a forward. All the great forwards have to adapt as they mature and lose that half yard of pace from Daglish, Bergkamp, Drogba, to Ronaldo and Suarez.

Would just like to correct that Tom. What I said to Fats was "I'd like to see Tom defend that referee"! And, you're right, I didn't know you were there! Was glad, however, that you agreed he was ****! If I was a cynical bastard I'd suspect he took a bung, but I know that never happens .....
