Oh dear.... Phil McNulty BBC Sport chief football writer Posted at10:51 Tense times at Everton "Tense times at Everton after the FA Cup third round exit at home to Leicester City ended their trophy hopes for this season. I was at Goodison Park and manager Ronald Koeman did nothing to conceal his fury at the manner of the defeat - as well as laying the law down in very blunt terms to Everton's board and director of football Steve Walsh over transfer policy. Koeman clearly expects Everton to be doing deals quicker than they are and not haggling with Manchester United over his long-time transfer priority Morgan Schneiderlin. To say Koeman looked and sounded unimpressed would be a masterpiece of understatement and his two namechecks for Walsh, brought in from Leicester City in the summer, certainly seemed very pointed. Koeman, while having to take his share of responsibility, has a point. Everton talk of a new era and new ambition while continuing to have a reputation as a club seemingly willing to drag transfer deals out as long as possible. On that basis, and to improve their manager's very dark mood, we should expect Everton to meet United's asking price for Schneiderlin some time this week."
You mean the 300 comments made up roughly of six LFC fans, half of which aren't bothered and half on the wind up and the other 290 odd comments shared out between the only other people on there, those being four or five childish blues obsessed with calling the six LFC fans 'bitter'. Honestly, I don't personally know any reds who are the least bit bothered about where the new stadium is. We could have had the Kings Dock when you lot couldn't afford it but the overwhelming majority didn't want to move and still don't. Jealousy - no, just wishful thinking on the part of the blues I think
There were a number of articles that had attracted the ire of kopites I'm afraid mate. Have a listen to some of the gems on the Merseyside phone in (after the Anderson interview) http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04lj2gx
I've just listened to that link and haven't changed my opinion. The first two callers didn't identify as LFC fans and just complained about the council spending money that belongs to all the people of the city and could be spent on better things. Another who didn't identify as red or blue who believes in tradition and Everton should stay in their traditional home and improve the surrounding area. A blue who doesn't care where the stadium is as long as he can get there and another blue saying he's laughing at all the jealous reds ?? You know my thoughts on it. However, I can well see the arguments for and against. From what I've seen and heard, most of those complaining are basing it on losing a heritage site and/or disgruntlement with council spending priorities, which is a valid point. It seems any complaints from anyone are seen by blues as bitter, jealous reds - I just don't get it. Why would you be jealous giving someone something you could have had but didn't want?
I take it you've not seen astro's posts on the subject mate? He epitomises the mindset of the kind of reds I'm talking about here. Even the title of this thread was amended to reflect it lol.
Amended by me No one's bothered about Everton (certainly not Norwich or Leicester) it's just an opportunity for a laugh and you said at the start of the season it would only take a few weeks not drag on until April 2017
Yeah OK maybe West Brom are bothered about you for a few weeks until they take 7th place off you #competitiveedgewillbemeasured
Well one giant tool on here decided to open a thread up on here about it... That tool cares very much...In fact nearly as much as he cares for Man Utd
True - but he is allowed to express his view as much as anyone. I happen to think we have something very special in the city already - at the right distance away, seeing the two stadia so close, side by side, there's nothing like it anywhere. Build them both up to world class facilities, how special would that be.
We've got no option but to move mate. The footprint at Goodison is way too small for a 21st Century stadium and the only way of achieving an increase in that footprint would be via CPO's and it'd take donkeys - as it did around Anfield. In addition, I think we'll need to make a new facility more than just a stadium in order to generate sufficient incremental revenue, it'll need to be in daily use. Therefore a location close to the City Centre makes much more sense imo.
on a purely business level that makes perfect sense. In many ways tottenham have been really lucky that they can do what they are doing and their legal challenge to the corrupt west ham deal failed. They are getting the best of both. new gorund AND on top of home AND its not (maybe) a souless bowl. On the pithc though it cannot be ignored. move to a new gorund and you can suffer. there is a list of clubs that have done so. Arsenal. moved and went into joyless mode. They struggled at the outset but still got 4th i supposed Derby. move to pride park. joyless Middlesboro. new gorund no joy southampton st marys, and administration. they couldn't buy a win at home as i recall West ham. near relegation! Sunderland. nearly bankrupted them til they put concerts in. now are just struggling to get players. i'm sure the list goes on and on really. It will be interesting to see what spurs do next year in a new ground.
I know there's no chance of you staying. Should have been expanding along the way like we did. As for donkeys - wherever the stadium ends up won't happen any time soon.
We should have used the Football Trust cash in the wake of the Taylor report, to completely rebuild the stadium. But we had no vision and built a cheap single tier stand at the Park End. The likes of Sunderland and Villa saw the opportunity and grasped it, with the former going down the new build route and Villa completely refurbing the superb Villa Park. In terms of timeframe, it'll be 5 or 6 years before we move I reckon.
I personally hope they get the nod and build a superb stadium, it not only benefits EFC but it also benefits the city. And when its built FSG better build the "new" Anny Rd stand or they'll be getting run out of dodge asap.
