I was working in a classic middle management role in the NHS, which basically means you get **** from all angles and are expected to make it all work.
I'd go to meetings with senior managers, who would be complaining that my service was costing too much, so I had to make cuts and not fill posts that were vacant. Then I'd have meetings with my staff who were complaining that there weren't enough resources and they were struggling because there wasn't enough staff. And that's before dealing with the problems of the people we were working with.
All water under the bridge now, it was a big leap walking away from a well paid job with all the perks, to start up my own business with all of the insecurity that comes with it, but it was the best thing I ever did
