Looking through #saintsfc on Twitter, obviously this is all Puel's fault and Puel needs to go and everything will be fine again
Fonte has to be stripped of the captaincy with immediate effect. Even if a move away fails to materialise this month he can't remain captain.
Bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't there though considering how many demands there are for more transparency.
I know, I know ... I'm trying to kill the last half hour or so at work! (i haven't quite stooped to my own account yet though, thankfully)
THIS IS WONDERFUL NEWS! It's got Saints fans more alive than they've been all bloody season. Nothing brings us together like this sort of stuff. Thank you Les and thank you Jose.
Why has anything changed since Sep 1st though? If he ends up staying and acts fairly and professionally then it would just be a vindictive and destabilising move. And doing it now would just put us in a worse position whether he stays or goes. If his conduct changes and dictates him being removed from captaincy, we shouldn't hesitate, officially reaffirming his desire to pursue certain moves changes nothing though I feel.
As for Jose... I will be sad to see him go, he's a great player and been a great captain for the club. We've had the best years out of him, he won't be getting any better, so it's not a big loss for the club if we bring in a good replacement (but will we?) The whole Europa snub was very odd. I believe that Puel was told by Reed not to play him. Why? Especially if according to Les, we've never had an offer for him? Fans hating on Jose for lack of loyalty is hilarious. Some people will believe anything the club says without question.
The ongoing point about transfer requests and whether it's good or bad ... I do recall Andrew Surman putting one in, when we told him he needed to go due to us crumbling financially. He did it to ensure that Saints, considering our predicament at the time, got the maximum amount from the sale. He was doing it to try and keep us afloat as long as possible.
