Right, the sherry is sorted and now I've got to get the sick notes ready for work. What do you reckon folks, is a 2 week binge too short to celebrate the departure of the twats? Stuff it, better get the doc to make it 3 weeks!
Was he really sacked by Sporting for not wearing the official club suit to a cup game? (Days after winning a domestic trophy?!?!)
Seen this guy mentioned earlier and he is a remarkable find if correct. He certainly doesn't fit into the Allam mould of managers. There are just too many small things that are getting bigger that point to an imminent sale. Pearson (in his summer sale comments, which I found a tad strange) might be misdirecting or he might be getting misdirected. Interesting times, but let's all keep our fingers crossed that you are not overly optimistic, as I believe you have good cause.
Another question, does Pennock go back to managing the U23's? (I understand Silva is bringing his own backroom staff)
****ing hope so, it always seemed stupid taking him away from that role that he was brought in as an expert for. I know he wanted the promotion, but that's the problem, it shouldn't be a lesser job to oversee the entire youth setup. That job should be on whatever pay grade it needs to be to make him want to stay there.
If it's 6 months of guess there's no new owners coming. Its Ehab, 'hello Mr Mendes, your Ronaldos agent get me a football manager please'.
Version I heard was Ehab was googling some info on his favourite pastime of polo and up popped Marco Polo then he clicked on that and up popped Marco Silva and the rest is history, as they say.
Six months suggest that this is part of a take over deal that's is not quite done yet. This is the guy the new owners want and as part of the deal the new owners have asked for this guy to be brought in. Allams only given him a six month contract just in case the take over does not happen. If this was not part of the new owners deal why not give him an 18 month deal. No way this guy and his backroom team would move to Hull on a six month deal if nothing else happening behind the scenes
I've given up hope of us being sold. Not bothered what Silva's won and done previously, all that matters is the here and now, what I would say is I cannot see the logic in the theory that this is part of a take over deal that may or may not be happening, why would the Allams, ****s to the nth degree, sack Phelan, and cover his pay off, and bring this new guy in along with a reported back room staff, increasing a wage bill that they are accountable for when there is a risk, like with the Chinese group, that it could all go tits up at the last minute leaving them with further financial burdens which they wouldn't want?
Because it protects their investment more than doing nowt and Phelan was a cheap option and cheap to pay off.
I get that is the reason they've done it if they are staying, my point is, if a takeover is imminent, why would they do this? Surely if one were coming, they'd have kept Phelan and let the new owners fund his severance and the hiring of new staff
When it went wrong with the Chinese it hardly gave them financial burdens...they pocketed the £6m deposit didn't they? I like the idea above that it is a long term appointment, but the As have only agreed to go short for now in case it falls through. Also new owners might have stumped up to pay off Phelan anyway I'm unusually optimistic...it wont last though
Yeah they netted 6m, although they also had to fund the purchases of Mason, Keane, Weir, Henrikson and Marshall, at the time it was assumed (could be utterly wrong) that the purchase decisions were made 'jointly' with someone from the investment group due to the time constraints, assumed again by me as being under an understanding that the costs would be mirrored in the takeover deal. I'm massively pessimistic about anything positive happening with these two, and will only see the bad in anything they do until they do one.
