Happy New Year one and all! Hope it'll be a great one.

A thread like this was done a couple years ago but since then we've had people come and go while others have opted for changes - something I'll actually be doing in the coming days, 'Spurs or Sex?' has served me well but I've had it since joining the forum and I feel a change is needed (especially as the latter is increasingly becoming a rarity in my life <laugh>).

So, anyway, what's the reasoning behind your username? Does it have a meaning to you? Why did you pick that? Where was the idea from? Etc.

Initially opted for 'Spurs or Sex?' for a pretty simple reason, I was down the pub at the time with a few mates and one asked:
"If you could choose between having a shag with anyone in the world or see Spurs win a trophy, which would it be?"
This was asked not long before I decided to join the forum and so it just somehow popped into my head as something to use.

A night with Kate Bush or Spurs winning Champions League. <yikes>

Thank heavens that will never be presented to me as an option. I'd probably top myself over the one I turn down.

Spurf was nothing to do with the smurfs it was just a cross between Surf the net and Spurs, sort of Spurfing. I have never had any other name and it does the job so why change it.

Not very interesting I'm afraid. <laugh>

But there are lots of intriguing names on here so it will be interesting to hear how they originated.

And there was me thinking you just couldn't spell Spurs correctly <laugh>.

I do like how the name came about though, I may use the term "Spurfing" in the future!

If I was you SD I'd change your name to Spurs and Sex just in case.

As for username, the 93 is after I turned over car number 36, someone reported car number 93 had had an accident and it sort of stuck. DeeDub is just initials as in George Dubya.

First it was Dona_Mara which was Maradona split in half and put back to front. Why Maradona, because he's a legend and he put on our shirt...why split in half and put back to front? Because everyone in England hates him and I thought it was a cunning way of hiding the man's name.

Then I fancied something with Spurs in it and back then I was listening to Sherlock Holmes audiotapes on a regular basis whilst trying to catch some sleep....just a thing I do.....then I had a Eureka moment!

Because I'm from Croydon and qualify as a member of the human race

Originally it was going to be CroydonHomosapien, since as I was filling out the form Homosapien by Pete Shelley happened to come on the radio...but then I remembered that Chelsea fans used the forum, so changed it to avoid about 63,000,000 obvious jokes

Was browsing a match preview while creating my profile, got to the bit about the officials and thought, "Please not Poll", IIRC.

If you've followed Spurs for as long as I have the suffering part needs no explanation. Moved to Spain 10 years ago now, so....

Previously 'Relayer69' - a mixture of my favourite Yes album (hence the Roger Dean album cover avatar) and a number with no connotations whatsoever.

In the Comic Strip Presents "Bad News", Rik Mayal's character was called Vim because it sounded more rock and roll than his real name. His character's real name and mine are the same, so I thought I'd be Vim because of that. Hawk just sounds a bit cool, plus Hawkwind are one of my favourite bands.

One of my jobs was ensuring everything was correctly wired up so I got called Paul the plug and it just stuck.

I'll agree that Kate Bush in the wuthering heights video (when she was incredibly only 19), is about as gorgeous as gorgeous gets.

But have you seen her these days ????
