Yes I know that. But I was being specific in Carroll, Nolan and Barton epitomised these traits.

    ive changed the article accordingly...

I don't think we're lacking grit and determination. I think we lack someone to give people a kick up the arse to make sure they give everything. It's very easy to drop off in a game if you're not 100% motivated and, unless Barton can step up or Cabaye can fill that role, then I think we're a player away from fulfilling our potential

One could argue that 'grit' does as much harm as good for Barton and Carroll. And Nolan has to rely on his grit and determination to compensate for his relative lack of skill and pace. Yes, there were matches the team's determination saved them, but often that was when they showed a complete lack of skill, pace, or creativity. Personally I'd prefer a squad that has the skill and creativity in the first place.

Plus like everyone's said, there's still plenty of size, toughness, and dedication in the players remaining.

He's not, just qualifies to play for them on a technicality.

Can you stop advertising your blog?

At first i found it brave, roguish, sincere. But now it's persistent, ignorant and boring. Please stop.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was interesting or well written but it's neither. Quallity not quantity mate.

I do think there's a difference in mentality between some areas though. The Eastern European, German, Scandinavian, African and British players are much more ready to put their body on the lines unlike Latin, French and other such countries. Although there are exceptions to both cases.

People seem to think that you can either play with 11 technical players or 11 gritty players. There is another option: a mix. We're edging towards that middle ground. And good for us. If we sign a good striker with determination, we're there :D

Agreed. Any fan could show more passion than most players pulling on the shirt, but it isn't going to help any when you're no good at actually playing football.
