I too think the City game will be easier although the score line will be tighter. His slow patient passing game will be exactly what our fast pressing game needs.

I haven't listened to, watched or read any of the media post-match analysis but I can imagine they're having a go, because that's what they do.
I was disappointed he let that through (those are the type of saves he's normally good at), but yeah - it was one of those things, some you get, some you don't.
The important thing for me is that he didn't let it undermine his confidence - he made a really good stop soon after and did everything else that was expected of him otherwise.

We all know he has weaknesses, we all know he's unlikely to be able to improve to the level we want, but it's pointless us bringing anyone else in unless there's a clear and obvious upgrade available.
And I agree with those who are pointing out that it was yet again a failure by several players, not just the one.
This will happen though, and it's nowhere near as frequent as it was, so perhaps it's a sign of improvement. And as long as we respond to setbacks the way we did yesterday we should have enough going forward to counter the frailties at the back.
Besides, if you look at the full table, only Chelsea and Spurs have a significantly better defensive record than we do.

Anyway City next - another team good up front but dodgy at the back. Should be a goal-fest, so I'm going for a 0-0. :)

Agree with MITO. Sky going a bit OTT with the save Mings didn't make..
You'd like them saved but it was a flick on from the near post no more than 6-8 yards out, with pace and more often than not, goalies will get beaten.
He made a good save later on and after that he pretty much had everything under control.

    Game was a funny one..
No real great play from either side for most of the goals, 3 out of the 5 were gifts..
We can't be that generous to City.

Again, like Everton, Stoke only appeared to have the energy to keep going for the first 20-25mins after that, they faded and we took control
Can't see City fading, they'll be up and at it from the first and last minute!

With both defences and attacks, can see our game against City being a high scoring game, most likely to the benefit of Chelsea, 2-2 draw!

All goals conceded are **** ups one way or another. I'm sure tobes thinks that our goal against Everton was a defensive blunder while red fans think its good attacking football. Stokes goal was nicely done with a great whipped in cross and header. Sure there were some mistakes but if no one made a mistake there would be no goals. Was Lallana's goal a good one Or was it down to Johnson? Same with Sturridges. It is what it is and the most pleasing thing is is how the team responded and kicked their arse after.

It was neither great attacking play nor poor defending, it was fortuitous, given the scuffed shot came back off the post at the exact perfect angle for Mane.

Whereas Allen's effort last night came off the post a yard ahead of Le Freak.

Lallana's goal was down to Johnson trying to trap the ball rather than clearing it behind and Walters header should have been saved by Mignolet, it was at his near post and high, routine stuff.

Exact perfect angle for Mane <laugh>

He beat 4 of your defenders who had a head start

And if it went the other way Firmino was there to be at the "exact perfect angle" <laugh>

    Attacking play rewarded #endof

It shows that Johnson was under pressure and had limited options.
Mignolet was at fault for Walters's goal, a good goalkeeper must save that especially by near post<ok>

What you know about the beautiful game wouldn't fill the reverse of a postage stamp mate.

    Your view is therefore #void

Mane's goal v Everton WAS poor defending. Letting Studge get the ball on his left foot around the edge of the area was poor.
The keepers expecting the shot to his right which is why he was slow down to his left, and Mane reacts quicker than anyone to win the game.

Nah, Baines iirc chased him right across the edge of the box, he got his shot away but scuffed it, the keeper had it covered from the angle I was sat (right behind it) and the ball came back off the inside of the post, Mane was quickest to react, but it was still fortuitous that the ball arrived at his feet from a scuffed shot that came back off the post.

Aren't most goals usually caused by a mistake somewhere?
According to press and pundits we should have been two down
BUT our goalie, according to same people should have saved first shot (I actually agree with those who say we are being a bit harsh on migs).
This would have meant we would only have been 1 down. If the second goal had gone in but it didn't it was saved.
Which probably would not have happened anyway as that period came from us being rattled due to the first goal that should have been saved not being saved.
Either way migs saved it (the second shot and not the goal obviously)- which is what he was supposed to have done with the first header therefore we should only have been one down not 2.
In the end we scored 4 in reply - so coming back from 2 down would have been a breeze <cheers>

Where's the MNF inquisition asking why Robles let the ball roll past him three times for that goal?

Meanwhile Mignolet doesn't save a point blank bullet header and he's at fault <laugh>

This goal is getting so much limelight, you'd think we lost 1-0!

2 clean sheets prior to this game, scored 4 in reply - it was hardly a massive blunder, just probably should've kept it out. Next!!

Keeper had it covered but it hit his inside post #seemslegit

It didn't arrive at Mane's feet, he moved to the ball <ok>

Mistakes made by the opposition are beyond our control.

Mistakes that our team make are well within our control.
