All of the packing´s been done And all preparations are in place, For us to set off at the gun Just looking to stay with the pace The road ahead´s windy and long And getting up speed could be tough, But our motor is rugged and strong And used to terrain that is rough Everything´s tuned and well-oiled No more could be done on that front, Others hopes could soon be spoiled If they just drop out of the hunt But we´re here to enjoy the ride And nothing will dampen the joy, Whether visiting at the seaside Or the smoke of the big city boys Even if we sometimes lose our way On our journey to those distant parts, We´ll always be there on the day Rested, and relaxed for the start With Wigan planned as the first stop That´s sure to be quite a long haul, And though they were close to the drop Last year, it´s a hard one to call I think if our engine runs smooth And we avoid any major potholes, They may need the first parking booth To stop, rest, and rethink their goals But we know breakdowns can come too Without warning, at any time, So what seems like a straight drive through Could soon become an uphill climb But for every hill that goes up Somewhere it must come down again, And should our turbo just hiccup On the down grade we should find speed then So with such a long trip ahead And miles to go before it adjourns, We´ve earned the right, as PL said To tackle all the twists and turns Put foot to the pedal, I say Let´s not hang around for too long, To be at the front could well pay Ahead of that overtaking throng. Sweet work my dear fellow, sums it up beautifully. There is a genuine air of optimism around at the moment, I hope it lasts! Still we're in much better shape than last time. Looking forward to many more verses from you this season, RBF
As Jack says, RBF, sums it up to a tee! Here's hoping in 9 months time, our baby will be born to again play in the top house See what I did there?
Well dave, after that respectable pregnant pause, I sincerely hope that your ´baby´ is an entirely hypothetical one, or these next 9 months are going to be nothing, compared to the months that follow.
