I hope that this is just another stupid story from the Sun.The rumour is that they want Defoe for £6 million pounds....our new Chief Exec. should tell them to go forth and multiply right now!!

Makes 0 sense to sell him for less than 10s of millions.

If I was being super cynical what if the story of no money was the clubs way of allowing Defoe to finish his career in London if he has asked, 6 million fee with 4 million wages is a lot of money for someone of his age. Certainly don't want this happen but stranger things have happened

That would be the worst scenario possible.

It's crap; he's going to marry that pole dancer lass, settle down in Whitburn, and play his retirement out with South Shields Mariners just in front of Julio A. Now that's a partnership!

If we sell Defoe in January for anything less than silly money then we may as well send out a letter to all the other sides in the league telling them that we would like to be relegated and won't be turning up for any more games.

You can't possibly put a figure how much Defoe's worth to us.

    Selling him would be suicide.

Defoe. One of the most prolific strikers in the League.
    Sell for £6mil.
Cost of effective replacement-----£zillions (and you have to get him to come).

Cost of rebuilding The SSoL, £500mil (unless they get Bob to manage the project).
This will be needed AFTER the Fans destroy the place in a collective fit of anger.

    What have I missed?
Is it Xmas or April First?

I'm sure that they do want Defoe for £6m, who wouldn't? It doesn't mean it's going to happen though. I would personally sell virtually the rest of the squad first!

We've been offered Cristiano Ronaldo for 8m so we need to get West Ham to up their offer so we can afford him...

The Sun have also said that Rashford and Martial are joining West Ham on loan!! Although Bilic denied that!

If Defoe went to West Ham for anything less than £20m, then the club are truly stupid! (Only put £20m cos of his age!)

Aye but from a business perspective (hate using that term but sadly it's what football has become) £20m would be very good.

To replace him with like for like 7 or 8 years younger (not that I know of anyone who you could say is "like for like" - a lot of you are much more educated on football matters from overseas than me) would cost in excess of £30m I reckon!

Although clearly he's worth at least 20 mil to us I can't see anyone paying that much for him.
