I like your thinking Fredd but unfortunately they don't often see it like and the club certainly won't. As we have seen when Ashley wants someone out he is pretty good at getting shot. Players don't hang around where they're not wanted, too short a career. The only way I can see him signing a new contract is if there is some sort of clause that allows him to move on next summer if we don't progress.

If there isn't a firm offer from a CL club this window, a new contract that allowed Enrique to leave if a CL club offered £X as a transfer fee would seem to suit both parties. And he likes it here, which is a factor, though perhaps not a hufe one

I think he would have already been off if it wasn't for the way he feels about the club and its fans, so it may have a bigger part to play than we realise with any luck!

Well, personally I think we always needed another fullback anyway. Fair enough, Raylor can cover for simmo, but we had nothing to cover for Jose. Remember when we were in for Naylor? I doubt he would be first choice LB for us. We all know we need cover at left back, whats to say Pieters isn't being signed purely for this reason.

Although on the other hand, those comments about him being annoyed about being left out of the PSV squad won't make him happy when he comes here if the above is true.

Because Pieters is a full current international and will expect games. He'll also command a decent transfer fee. We'd spend 1-2 mil on a Championship player of we wanted cover for LB. He will be a starter.

He can also play as a central defender apparently, which I guess would be expected of a 6' 1" 13 stone defender.

****ing hell he'd be a monster at full back. Then again I think he would compliment Marveaux very well as would Jonas to Simpson.

Probably. If we got Pieters and Enrique's move broke down though I'd love to see Enrique as a winger.
