No sign of riots up here. Hopefully we'll avoid it. This is embarrassing now, these little feckers should be ashamed of themselves, there is no justification for this at all. Somebody has just told me it kicked off because some kid had come out of house after some gang dispute and shot a police officer. Another police offer had returned fire and killed him. They then kicked off because it was unjust? He must be wrong surely? I've read the reports but its seems very sketchy about what is the root problem of it all. Some seem to point towards what the gangs feel is heavy handed policing (suggesting he may not be wrong), others mention poverty. Can anyone shed any light on it. Obviously the rest are just jumping on the bandwagon after spotting an opportunity to nick some stuff. Scum.

They are very stretched indeed but there are still plenty of serving men in this country who can help deal with this problem. It's not like we have flooded all our resources to those areas you know. We need to be dealing with this before it gets out of hand and the current police force in this country do not have the expertise to deal with this. How happy the army will be to help after recent cuts and them being told they have "excess funds when they are needed" is another thing altogether.

The looting and rioting was about 2 miles up the road from me last night.

My wife was told to stay at home and not come into Croydon this morning.

It's a bit of both, it started in Tottenham as a protest against the shooting but Tottenham is the region in London with the highest unemployment levels so thy are all bored as **** and can't afford a TV so they decided to go mental. Then it spread across London because the city is over run with charvas. I seen a video of people protesting against the government and rioting because they are against them. Birmingham joined in because the people there don't have a mind of there own and there just copying and Liverpool joined in because they are scum but thats normal behaviour in Liverpool <ok>

Sorry for the stereotypical view <ok>

For ****s sake, really? I'd expect it of Tash, but this is just bollocks. I don't think theres any evidence whatsoever that people who've been 'let in' are the primary cause of this, everything I've seen so far suggests its Brits causing the bother. Theres also reports of groups of Turks and Asians actually getting on the streets and protecting their communities.

This isn't political, its just scum. Whatever race they are.

So Cameron has decided to add more officers. Why? When more officers are being brought in from other counties and cities it will prompt more mindless violence from those areas because they know that less police will be there.

Exactly. Its just mindless arseholes who have seized upon an opportunity to create havoc. Most of the people rioting wont give a **** about the lad that got shot, they just wanna take an apparent "moral" high ground.

Agree, this is little to do with anything either party has done, and more to with scumballs who just lack moral fibre.

Utter rubbish, no police officers were shot at by the guy, bullet has been confirmed from a police weapon. 2 shots fired by same copper, one killed the guy the other hit another copper's radio narrowly saving him from catching the bullet.

I've heard mixed reports on the bullet, some saying its a police weapon, others saying the bullet was home made, so lets not jump to any stupid '**** the po-lice' conclusions. Regardless of whether he fired or not, carrying a gun around is asking for trouble anyway. Not justifying any death, but rash assumptions coupled with dickheads is what starts this kind of thing in the first place.

Spoke to a couple of mates who lived near me when I lived in London, apparently the Turkish & Greek shopkeepers had their mates come down to defend their shops.

Didn't they find a police issue bullet lodged in the policeman's radio?

    EDIT: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...me-of-Mark-Duggan-death-was-police-issue.html

Apparently the bullet that hit Duggan appears to have went straight through and hit an undercover policeman's radio. Duggan did have a gun but it's unknown if he actually shot.

This. If anything our border control is too strict to non-EU citizens. I'd rather have more open borders and ship out / lock up our own scum.
