Best of luck and all that but the one question we all want to know is does he follow up? Christmas is a couple of days away and there'll be at least one or two reprobates on here still trying to win their Christmas fund.

Looks a perfect race for him tomorrow, should sit up with the pace and prove very tough to pass.

Good luck gents. Get that Xmas money in.

All the best with Squire. Drifting from 6s-8s currently. Need to get on before Sticks wheelbarrow puts it into favourite!

Merry Christmas to everybody concerned with SQUIRE – hopefully he’s going to bring home the Christmas beer money at Chelmsford! I see that I have been elevated in status to just a reprobate by Bostonbob.

The main danger looks to be Fahey’s three year old Inaam, but he has never been over a mile. The Easterby seven year old Curzon Line went up nine pounds for a facile win last time and that may be enough to anchor him.

The odds looking surprisingly generous on Oddschecker right now; he should be in the first three on the form.

Best priced 8/1 (Bet365) but as low as 5/1 with Betfair.

Good luck stick and Don. Hope he gives you a great birthday present stick.

Huge early move for the Simcock trained Starboard in that 1.20! Only saving grace is Frank is on board and may not have got the memo!

What a stupid comment from Timeform. What on earth do they mean? What type follows up? He has won over the C&D with the same jockey, running the race to give him the best chance of winning over 8f. One could say that now they have it right, the horse may like the taste of winning and he's out again before the handicapper bangs him up. I assume he came out of his last race well and he is as fit as he can be.

Come on Squire. We are all cheering for you. If he wins I will personally send an egg to Timeform and tell them what to do with it.

It has been quite a few runs between his last wins to be fair to the Timeform-er. However I don't think it's fair as he is a genuine sort who tries.

Yes, agreed Nass. Typical race reader who just looks at the form book. The idiot can't tell what sort of horse he is from that.

Cheers guys. My birthday tomorrow so it would be the most perfect present imaginable. The plan was to run on Monday but after work last Wednesday he had a very minor cough. He was scoped and the vet was happy that there was no infection but to be on the safe side he had a few days of antibiotics and steroids. He is absolutely fine and dandy now and his work since was really good.
He is up in grade and up 4lbs for his win but on the plus side we have a handy draw for a change. My opinion is that this is an extremely tight handicap and any of them could win. I thought Exceeding Power was the danger last time we raced but that one never got a clear run, off the revised terms I have to be fearful of that one again.
Big praise to Chelmsford racecourse by the way, no other track ever offers anywhere near £8K for a grade four handicap!
Fingers crossed he gets the breaks and does us proud again but most importantly comes back safe and sound.

Thanks all, be interesting and finally gets a half decent draw. As Stick says not a clear run into this and been struggling a bit in this grade so fingers crossed rather than wheelbarrow I would say!

I have just seen Squire running tomorrow Stick and with a 1 against his name - I missed that run and so just wanted to say well done and how happy I am that he has finally got his head in front this season. As you say a very tight handicap tomorrow in which you could give four a very good chance and not write off too many at all, Squire will certainly be in with as good a chance as any and will no doubt do his best as always. Good luck and happy birthday for tomorrow.
