Keep going Obi. Getting HULL CITY flags around the ground is a good suggestion and one which we can all support. I'll use my old one for now and get a new one for Xmas
I just want to point out that should the boycott be poorly observed, it doesn't make it a bad idea by the trust. It's a good idea and if people choose to ignore the call, there's nothing we can about that. We've called for a boycott. Now it's over to the customers.
Indeed. This was suggested by a few on here a number of weeks ago - I was one. A crowd funding initiative would be the way to go I think - I'd happily sort out the financial side of that if it flies.
Easy isn't it, just a little thought, a trip down the flag makers and we can have our messages all around the ground. Add in a splash of Hull wit and voila the KC is ours. If we want it to be.
A Christmas Carol… Allam don’t be Ebenezer Scrooge Honour Ebenezer Cobb Morley’s rules! WE ARE HULL CITY AFC
That's fine, but we all know that (thankfully) the Trust have good support from fans, so things like this take off better if they are supported by the Trust (I realise you're not speaking for the Trust...I'm just saying)
I'm sure Obi knows something like that would be happily supported by the Trust. It's exactly the kind of thing we should exist for, rather than all the campaigning stuff.
I think the basis of your idea is a good one, I'm just not sure it'd work as I mentioned in my previous posts that a lot of fans who would be most committed to doing this are no longer going. You might also face criticism (not saying it's justified) that a) all you're doing is making flags/merchandise and b) the Allams aren't even there so what's the point in protesting at the stadium. I think this was also discussed on another thread that doing anything with 'Hull City' on would be very difficult to do for legal reasons but the idea of having some sort of brand along the CTWD scarves/badges is a good one. The red cards probably weren't done against Derby as there were too many people saying it's too important a match to have distractions in.
Are people saying the Allams would take action against anybody selling merchandise with "Hull City" on ?
There is no trade mark for Hull City only Hull City AFC so it shouldn't be a legal problem. I don't think he can legally trade mark the name Hull City. A new badge to separate Hull City from the old badge would help. I can run stuff past a friend and maybe a City supporting solicitor would give us free advice. For me, we make the decision in principle first and then look at the legalities. If both are ok we run with it. The point is we are supporting our players in a relegation battle using a name that the Allams are trying to extinguish. I have asked supporters to oppose the application to install a gate on the footbridge. I support, and have made suggestions for, the call to protest outside the Allam Squash Tournament. It is one part, an important part, of what I'm doing. I often get criticised but it doesn't stop me putting forward what I think is right. I know my suggestions are not as sexy as a pitch invasion, a boycott or a march past their houses, but its what I think is needed to make us stronger for the future.
If someone wants to knock out some Hull City tee-shirts and sell them offline, then it's unlikely the club would bother to do anything. Anyone who wants to make an entire range of Hull City branded clothing and sell it commercially, is going to get shut down. Considering it would take tens of thousands of pounds to make Hull City branded football shirts and the like, nobody is going to take that risk, so I think it's a bit pie in the sky (Hull City is an internationally recognised brand, it matters not that the trade mark registration is for Hull City AFC, it's been used for decades with and without the AFC and is protected either way).
Here's some legal advice freely available on the internet: There is no trade mark for Hull City A scarf with Hull City on it and a different badge is unlikely to cause confusion which is the criteria mentioned in this article. http://www.inbrief.co.uk/sports-law/unofficial-sports-merchandise/
I do this for a living Obi, I've said my bit, if you're happy to go ahead regardless, then good luck to you.
