Just had a nasty thought, what if the greedy **** sells the academy or worse still the ground, as i wouldn't put it past him to make a quick buck, to fund a few players till the Chinese decide to buy. as we have a few bob in the bank, ffp wouldn't come into it, and on paper it would look like we are in profit.
We'd have a made a profit on something that wasn't TV revenue and therefore the proportions of our income would be slightly different, allowing us to spend a slightly different amount. Or at least that's my imperfect understanding of the theory. Also, say we sold him for 20m, we'd be able to spend a proportion of that on transfer fees and a proportion of it on wages. I'd rather we didn't sell him either, but it might be the only option.
Doubt the land's worth that much, mate. It's all football pitches, so it probably isn't brownfield and would take a deal of developing. He'd be cutting off his own bollocks trying to sell the club if he did that, methinks...
Reading the article, it's more about the truths he didn't tell Moyes rather than the lies he did from what I can see. Moyes never said he was promised money or that the club wouldn't be up for sale (although again, the club is only up for sale if an offer which is good for SAFC comes in according to reports). He didn't lie, per say, just didn't tell the truth... Silence is golden and all that. As for people saying 'Short out" - the biggest problem with that is that he owns the place!! He can't be sacked or relieved of duty. He has to find a buyer. I'd prefer it to be sooner but, if he's preparing the club for sale, a transfer embargo will likely be imposed until the sale is finalised (from what I remember). I also have big worries that the sale is not in the next interests of the club. The mags all wanted Ashley out last year. They forgot who he is now everything's rosy! Whatever happens, we'll all be here long after Short
Quite a funny thread. Short lied/withheld the truth to make sure the club had the best manager possible in his eyes... Sounds like he did what is best for the club. I'm not going to blast him for it. Better than being truthful and getting Neil Warnock in.
if we sell anyone this window do you really think Moyes will get the said funds to spend on players? I certainly don't. Short came into this club without knowing anything about football and the running of a club, he still hasn't quite learned it yet either. Having said that though, for me its better the devil you know.
Patience grasshopper. You will find what you seek when you are not looking for it. Harry ****ing Potty.
That's what i don't get mate, just what are the repercussions if any team does breach the rules? fine? points deduction?
City fell foul of FFP regulations in 2014, leading to a £49m fine, spending cap and a restriction of their squad for that season’s Champions League http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...all-news/man-city-football-group-ffp-12014671 It's all about Commercial sponsorship - which might explain the recent departure from SAFC's commercial team.
People are still confusing UEFA FFP with Premier League FFP then. However, City earn a lot of their income by sponsorship from their owners, your owner is probably free to do the same.
Aye but he's a tight fisted twat mate and was very (pro) vocal about the FFP when it was being set up. Looks like we ****ed for this season and Moyes needs to work miracles to avoid the drop.
Manquillo should be his first job, get him back to base and off the books. Atletico will find a new home for him probably, it's useless having an asset depreciating in value at another club innit. Kone and Pickford are the other two. I think Carroll went for £35m after half a good season in the top flight, so if an offer like that comes in for the young lad, it's not even gonna be up for discussion. People saying Short won't put funds in etc, he can't expect to sell it if he has nothing to sell, the money just needs reinvested sensibly instead of desperately.
I fully agree mate and i think DM is the man who can finally sort this mess out. But, he needs players in January desperately, we have too many key players out with long term injuries, we need reinforcements so ES will have to work something out if he want's his club to remain in the top flight. Agree Manquillo although i doubt he'd be on big wages, I'd flog Kone tomorrow if we could get the reported £18m, but i'd be loath to lose Pickford. Players like him are the future of the club and shouldn't be sold, despite our financial situation.
Good local academy players in the first team are the life blood of the team and the fans - selling them leaves a massive emotional feel good space. We generally waste the money on inferior less committed injury prone players/journeymen- we don't attract top players by selling talented youngsters. No way do we sell Pickford at the moment - a massive mistake.
Really? Someone comes in with a hypothetical £30m bid you'd want the club to turn it down? That's pure delusion - £30m in Moyes hands will improve us for the remainder of the season - and it's not like our second choice is crap - Mannone is a good keeper.
i am just concerned that whoever we sell, if we do that is, that the money will not be made available for Moyes to spend.
