Unexpected win for me. Lovin' it. I'm happy for Jay. Yoshida and Bertrand were excellent, Davis as well.
Very good performance. Very satisfied with that. Davis, you the man! Well done Puel and the whole team. Maybe we'll have a good winter for a change?
Steven Davis is the man. Once again proving he is one of our most important players. And brilliant from Puel to have picked up 7 points out of 9 from three tricky looking games. He's a class manager, hopefully people will start to realise it now. And Jay Rod, wow. What an awesome lad he is. Played excellently today and has been improving all the time. What a day!
Don't like to say I told you so, but I told you so. So many acted as if it was impossible for us to win....if you have a decent defence and make chances (despite failing to convert), you will win some games.
I know the game has only just finished, but I'm already casting my mind forward to three quick games straight after Xmas. I don't think that there can be any question now that Jay is ahead of Long in the pecking order. But equally, Jay can't start three games in six days. WBA is absolutely the one we need to target for the three points (so I don't want to be taking risks, and not winning it - ie Jay not Long). But equally it's the middle of the three. Logistically you'd rather play him in games 1 and 3 (ie Spurs and Everton). I'm interested to see what Puel does.
That point at Stoke looks a lot better now I have to admit. Although I still maintain we dropped 2 points there.
We still need a striker - one game doesn't change that. However. That was a very good away win at a team in form, who were well up for it from the start. We nullified them after their goal and played very well second half especially. Steve Davis changed the game, and is definitely motm despite Jays goals. Hojbjerg had a woeful first half but much better second. Puel has to take credit for the substitutions, as he's taken stick for bad ones in the past. I believe we're up to 7th now? Fantastic considering the Europa league and cup run. Time to get some rest then hopefully put some distance between us and 8th by beating Everton and West Brom!
Bournemouth looked physically gone after about 55 minutes. Maybe rotation kinda can work. Who knew? (Clue - boring sounding French chap).
Am I the only one who almost shed a tear when Jay Rod scored his first? Maybe I am. But I was so happy for him For the second I scared the crap out of my girl dog on my lap...haven't seen her since [emoji4].
Agree on both counts. But ultimately, I came into this week wanting seven points. We got those seven points, so I'm not going to be a hypocrite. I'm happy. Well done Saints. Now for a few days off, and then four points from the next quick set of three.
