It was the club who claimed that Austin was Pelle's replacement because they knew he was leaving. May not be true and be a retrospective thing, but it is what they said.

Pretty sure I could score in that league, and I'm 55. In fact, I'm thinking of giving it a go (it's bound to help being at least a foot taller than the average Chinese Centre Half).

Just heard from a very good sourse of usually reliable info. that Jose is flying to Manchester today? I guess if he's out tonight with injury we will finally know?

 

Well apparently we have set an asking price of £15m. Which I doubt anyone would pay for a 33 year old whose performances are slowly but surely fading.

 

Unless you are a manager unused to failure who is struggling at a club that basically any of us could manage and you fancy an experienced man at the back.

 

A job that any of us could do? The United job is one of the hardest in English football.

Surely there are better options out there than Fonte though. It would very much be a short term fix.

 

I'd still be amazed if the United interest is for real. As great a player he is for for us, he's only ever going to be a well paid bit player for Utd?

 

I was joking of course, but pointing out that ManU has the facilities and money to be successful*. No manager has an excuse to fail.

*It is enjoyable to watch United fans have to get used to lower standards. Fifth or sixth is a target for many clubs, but is low enough to make United fans get their knickers in a twist. I told a United fan over a decade ago that his team wouldn't always be top...and he was incredulous, despite me pointing out that Leeds were invincible once.

 

Archers - I have never been convinced of that line when it was spun. Looked more like we still had Jay out and he was going cheap and we took a punt to bolster the options. We needed another forward at that time to cover positions and, for me, we never replaced Pelle in the Summer. But that's just my take on it and others will agree or disagree.

I can't find any details of a charter flight, not sure how they were travelling to Stoke this time.

 

I'm sure he will be in tonight's squad and this is all something of nothing!

 

Why would he go to Manchester today? Games coming thick and fast for Southampton and plenty more football before the transfer window opens. Hoping this is all rubbish by 7pm!

The bookies have us as favourites for this game, if I was neutral I would sooner be backing Stoke at 11/5 considering our dreadful away form and lack of an in-form striker. I'm not a neutral though so 3-0 Saints obviously.

 

Strangely, not having Charlie kinda forces us into a differing. I don't think we'll come away with anything, but I do think our danger will come from the wings and taking people on.

Kind of hoping the loss of Austin will be the equivalent of our loss of Pelle last season, which forced a rethink of formation and got our season back on track.
