Listening to the radio and reading predictions over the internet and in newspapers i'm starting to get ****** off with people saying we will go down. Now I don't think we will have the best year but for god sake we have a good team and I can't see why people are predicting us to go down?

Our midfield has top 10 material with the likes of Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote, Marveaux, Barton, Jonas, Gosling & Vuckic. Yes we need 1 or 2 strikers but if we get a good striker in I really think we can have a solid season.

I hate repeating myself but people need to realise that we have more quality in our squad than Wigan, Blackburn, Wolves, Swansea and a few others. I would love to see these "so called pundits" yet again eat some nice humble pie!!!

    Mini rant over.

Let's not get carried away, we're not a top 10 team. But the big deal being made of a player wanting away, it wasn't like that when Rooney told Man U that he categorically wanted to leave? However I'm perfectly happy for them to say that, we will just quietly go about our business and hopefully massively overachieve for the second year in a row :D

    I think we are.

I don't know why everyone is whinging about us going down or struggling just like they did last season, but I'm happy to prove them wrong, again.

They are useless but this is the ammunition we thrive on, remember how we were going to get relegated from the Championship, then face a struggle to survive last season? They havent got a clue!

We're on course to slightly improve on our finish last year with the squad we have. Add a decent striker and we could finish around 9th.

So the pundits seriously think we're weaker than QPR, Norwich, Swansea, Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn to name but a few?????

To be fair we are in that mix and with the little bits of uncertainty around certain players, the disjointed pre season and the bits of discontent with players wanting the club to buy that Pardew alluded to, it would be easy from the outside to think we might struggle. Obviously we've had quite a high turnover players aswell, a new manager with his own ideas and a pretty poor track record, so you can see why they'd think that. The problem is goals wins points and we have possibly the weakest strike options. Ba is no certainty, and has a dicky knee. I'm hopeful we'll sign the two guys everyone can see we need after Obertan (or hold onto Jose). I think regardless if we can avoid the injury list getting ridiculous we should have enough to stay up. I see us as a team who'll flirt with the lower reaches but finish in 11th-15th. If we sign the striker we badly need we could challenge for the top half.

I don't think we'll get four points from Arsenal, or 2 v Chelsea etc like last season, but I think that our home games against the likes of Stoke, the promoted sides, Bolton, Wigan, Blackburn etc will yield more wins this season. This is where we cocked up last season but think the team will have learnt from it. That'll give us the basis of a good season hopefully.

I think we could finish anywhere from 7th to 17th tbh. I'm not going to be more specific than that but i will say that over the next few years i expect us to be pushing higher and higher up the league

We have a good core to get us to the top 10, but that's all it is at the moment. We have more depth than last season with a few players stepping up and players being brought in, but there isn't much more quality. The reason we're being tipped for relegation is because of Nolan, yet the game yesterday against Cardiff proved he is not the player they all see. His scoring record on paper is good, but that's it. Cabaye adds more to our play than Nolan does with an eye for a killer pass and more athleticism. True, we will miss him off the pitch, but that's the only place, off the pitch. Pundits just look at his scoring record and think "They've got rid of their only goal threat" and it's ridiculous.

Come the end of the season if we're still up, they'll all be like "What a good season they had" and "They have a strong side that was always going to stay up." Wait till the first MOTD, if we lose to Arsenal they'll say we'll be in trouble this season.

I'm sorry but are people not allowed an opinion? If they think we'll get down then let them and wait for the team to prove them wrong rather than making a stupid thread complaining about it.

Yes they have an opinion but I struggle to see why they think we will. Ever since Barton was placed on the transfer list we have suddenly become a club in decline.

They're not allowed an opinion when they're wrong.

I think we will do better than last year. If we keep Enrique then our defence is pretty good. I can't think of many teams with a better midfield than ours. It is only up front where we are weak and even then if Ba stays fit and carrys on how he has played his entire career then that is not bad either.

Its just a matter of opinion really, I think we have a good enough squad to stay up and even potentially push on from what we achieved last season but having said that, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we were involved in a relegation battle.

With the board not looking to spend any money, the possibility of Enrique & Barton on the way out, and with a new striker looking increasingly unlikely would you really put a lot of money on us avoiding a relegation scrap?

Always two sides to the coin.
