It is about time we stopped players from leaving if they are on long contracts and put us first for once.....we are a club that needs to improve without letting our best players leave.....we should never have let ash or Ayew go as they were key players for us and the stupid thing was we never got any replacements first......Our standards were not befitting for a team that wants to stay in the premiership and we need to raise those standards and show we mean business.........

All the players who could arrive or leave Swansea City in January transfer window

Will it be a busy January at the Liberty Stadium?

    Comments (0)
IT may only be 12 days until Christmas, but for football fans it is January 1 that is circled in red on the calendar.

The transfer window officially opens in 19 days' time - but in truth the rumour mill has been rumbling for a long time.

Swansea City manager Bob Bradley and chairman Huw Jenkins have been singing from the same hymn sheet, with both agreeing the club need to bring in one or two new faces next month.

Plenty of names have been thrown into the mix - some a lot more believable than others.

Here we take a look at the players linked with moves in and out of the Liberty so far this season - and rate how likely those deals are to happen.

    Arrivals
    Tom Carroll

The former Swansea loanee was yesterday linked with a return to SA1 after failing to break into the Tottenham first team. Swansea confirmed their interest in the midfielder - but not at the £10 million price tag quoted. Swansea made an attempt to sign Carroll after his loan stint came to an end in 2015. Interest is there.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 4/5

    Jay Rodriguez

The Southampton forward has been plagued by injury in recent seasons. The 27-year-old has made only one start for the Saints this campaign, but has shone previously for the south coast club and for former club Burnley before injuries struck. Fits the bill in many ways for Swansea - but an addition to the strikers' department will only likely be made if there are departures.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 2/5

    Ashley Young

The 31-year-old has struggled for game-time under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford this season. Swansea are blessed for wingers at present, and an ageing Young is unlikely to improve Bradley's squad significantly.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 1/5

    Paul-Georges Ntep

The 24-year-old Rennes winger is out of contract in the summer and is free to talk to clubs in January. Due to his contract status the French international could be available at a knockdown price. Has been tracked by Arsenal and Liverpool in the past. Unlikely to be short of suitors.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 3/5

    Steve Birnbaum

The American centre-back was linked with Swansea last month. The DC United defender is familiar to Bradley. "I know Steve pretty well, although I've never coached him," said the Swansea manager. "I know him but he's not been a player we've had contact with or put on any kind of shortlist. It's a big step. Is he ready for the Premier League? I'm not sure."

    Likelihood of deal happening: 1/5

    Michael Bradley

The manager's son has been linked with the club since his father's appointment. The Toronto midfielder, who previously played for Roma, won't be arriving at the Liberty anytime soon - according to his dad. "I would highly doubt it's the kind of thing that fits well at the moment," Bradley senior said recently.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 1/5

    Danny Williams

The Reading midfielder has been on Swansea's radar for some time. The American is out of contract with the Royals this summer. However, Bradley is not short of middle-of-the-park options at the Liberty. The fact they tried to sign Williams last January proves there is genuine interest, though.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 3/5

    Leonardo Ulloa

The Leicester forward was a transfer target in the summer, before the signatures of Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston. Like with Rodriguez, you would have to think a player would have to leave for Swansea to make a forward signing. Ulloa is keen to leave the King Power Stadium, however, but may find his club's £9 million valuation of him may deter potential buyers.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 2/5

    Dimitar Berbatov

A bizarre one. Bradley admitted that the former Manchester United man's name had cropped up in conversations at the Liberty. The Bulgarian is still without a club, and could, in theory, sign for Swansea tomorrow. But at 35, and as laid back as a flat-pack Ikea table, Berbatov is unlikely to be popping up in Rossi's any time soon.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 1/5

    Departures
    Ki Sung-Yueng

Chinese Super League clubs are said to be monitoring the South Korean's situation at the Liberty and are readying January bids for his services. Cash-rich Shanghai and Hebei are keen on the 27-year-old, who has struggled to nail down a place under Bradley due to form and fitness.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 3/5

    Alfie Mawson

A national report this week speculated that the centre-back could be farmed-out on loan in January to gain first-team experience. The former Barnsley man has impressed in an unconvincing back-line this season, so his departure would be surprising to say the least.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 1/5

    Borja Baston

The club's record signing has struggled to settle following his summer arrival from Spain. Injury hasn't helped his adaptation, and with only one goal to his name, the £15 million man was left out of the squad to face Sunderland at the weekend. Valencia are keen to take him on loan, according to reports, but can Swansea afford to lose him?

    Likelihood of deal happening: 2/5

    Kristoffer Nordfeldt

The club's second-choice keeper was linked with a temporary switch to Championship club Nottingham Forest last month. Unlikely to oust Lukasz Fabianski, and with other keepers on the roster, could leave in January.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 3/5

    Bafetimbi Gomis

The French striker is currently with Marseille on loan and is unlikely to play for Swansea City again. Says he is currently focused on helping the Ligue 1 club and will assess future in the summer. He may not move in January, but a summer transfer is on the cards, with Marseille in pole position.

    Likelihood of deal happening: 4/5
