I think maybe the bigger issue is that he doesn't really understand the art of goalkeeping. I feel like because MNF & Carra/Neville have developed such a following over the last few seasons they feel it necessary to have to analyse stuff that no one else has, which sometimes leads to them plucking complete nonsense out of thin air just to have a fresh perspective on something.

For example, he genuinely claimed that Mignolet was at fault for this goal and that he could've saved it.

I think pretty much every pundit has a lack of understanding of the GK role. There are so many times I see pundits have a go at a keeper for goals where I'm thinking "he had no chance".

I think actually most people in general are over critical of keepers. It's one of the most difficult roles in the game, they often have to play second string to someone else for long periods of time and even the smallest error can lead to a goal and so be torn apart.

When I've seen Schmiechel, Seaman or Lehmann comment on keepers they are far less harsh than any other pundit. And while some of that will be about defending other keepers, I think a lot of it is that they actually see what is going on better than everyone else who sees the same situation.

I think world class keepers are very hard to come by and most of the time most teams should be happy with a solid keeper who does the basics right.

The Nevilles are being mercilessly destroyed on twitter

There's the odd Manc bashing Klopp, but as he said he doesn't read that stuff, whereas Gary is crying over all the ones about him

Do you think Klopps comments were justified?

Gary Neville took a job which was probably beyond him as a favour to friends of his and since he left the position his successors have also failed.

I don't think it's a fair assessment of his ability to look at such a short time in management under such circumstances. Every manager has had a similar amount of time that could be considered a failure.

Klopp I thought would have been better off ignoring it, but I understand how to Liverpool fans it may have come across well.

    Yep Klopp's comments were #legit

If the Nevilles are interested in fair and #neutral reporting then there are many managers and players they can take issue with before Karius

Klopp judging Gary is exactly the same standard Gary applied to Karius, except Karius has a far better win rate

To be fair Neville seems to have quite a good mix of slating players and giving support to players from all teams. He is a lot more un-biased than I expected when he first became a pundit.

Are you firmly in support of Karius then? Most on here seem to have had issues with his form?

It's funny really I can remember when Neville and Carragher first got into doing analysis and stuff on Sky people just kept going on about how good they were, saviours of punditry, and how refreshing they were against the old guard, just shows what complacency and probably too much corporate hospitality and ego-stroking does to people, or how familiarity breeds contempt ??

Neville thinks £89m Pogba returning to Man Utd needs more time to adapt to the league than Karius #zerocredibility

Karius has #officially made 2 errors leading to goals this season, one more than De Gea has made

Karius has the same clean sheet percentage as De Gea, and 50% better win rate

Is De Gea being let off his **** season because Man Utd are going nowhere anyway?

At least the pundits have finally stopped jizzing over how much potential Stones has, but have any bothered to actually criticise him for single-handedly derailing Man City's season like they feel the need to with Karius?

    Nope.

Neville on Stones: "He's a fantastic passer of the ball. He's now at the right club at the right time and he'll turn into a great player."

    John Stones: 144 apperances
    Loris Karius: 11 appearances

Clear which one needs to be given more time

Neville on Stones: "It reminds me of six, seven, eight years ago, a player exposed to Guardiola. It was a young Gerard Pique. You see a lot of Stones in Pique"

    Where's Stones' MNF analysis, Gary?

I think both have been guilty of bias and the occasional bit of laziness but overall much better than what came before. Personally think Neville is better than Carragher who seems to have more a defenders approach to analysis.

BTW anyone remember the last time Gary Neville criticised an English player? Shame if he's compromising his current job because he has his eye on another.

I think Pogba given time will become a very good player for Utd. I can't help but feel that Mourinho is pressing the issue and miss using him. Pogba has shown a very high level of ability at international level and for Juventus and had top potential before he left Utd so I can see why people are willing to give him time.

Has Karius shown the same prior to his move? It may well be that he is an unknown so comes in for more criticism, plus as I say keepers tend to get more than there fair share of analysis.

I think De Gea is allowed his errors because he has already shown what a good keeper he is. He was comfortably Utds best player for the last couple of years.

Stones obviously has the ability to be a very good player but he has had a shaky start at City. He takes too long on the ball and doesn't have the combatative CB partner he will need to succeed.

He was 2nd best Bundesliga keeper, after Neuer

Since when does a £89m player need time?

That's one thing I definitely agree with, after his time with the England team he finds it very difficult to aim any kind of criticism at any English players.
