Scoring 5 in the last 2 games and coming away with one point is criminal! Matip & Klavan look to compliment each other, well worth a go imo
Should we be looking over our shoulder at Spurs and the Mancs? Having said that, they are still quite far behind. At least 6 points.
It's not just one game though. We've thrown away a lot of points that we shouldn't have. Of course we'll drop points during a season, but then it's only natural to look at the team when we do and try to work out why it's happening. There's no point in us being whining babies like Maureen and pointing the finger at Lady Luck or anyone else when it is down to us - the only game in which we've been unlucky is the Spuds game. We really don't defend well, and we have to get it sorted.
Why? What does it do for his confidence to be taking the blame all the time and having every move he makes subject to intense scrutiny and criticism? If a player is under pressure the sensible thing is to take him out of the pressure-cooker and work with him to improve his game and his confidence. If he is sensible and mature he will understand why it's being done and not go into a sulk. Karius may be young for a keeper, but he's a 23 year old man and I wouldn't expect him to behave like a big kid.
Not going to go over the obvious. What I would like to say is that Firmino was poor today and we had Woodburn and Ejaria on the bench, why not give them 20 mins? If they are in the bench then they should be trusted to play.
A fast wide attacker is crucial in January - we can't rely on Origi or Firmino, especially with Mane going to ACON.
Klavan hasn't done much wrong at all in what I've seen from him so far. He's been Estonian FOTY four out of the last five or six years, I believe. I know, it's only Estonia, but it does show a consistency and in his performances for us he's looked at a decent level. He has to be a better option than Lucas in that position.
We may have dropped points but the consolation is that City and Spurs are also dropping points. City whipped by Leicester and Spurs dropping points at the mancs.
I don't agree with dropping Karius..........his positioning for the free kick was poor and he couldn't get across. He'll learn from it. Not understanding the Matip criticism either.......if the ball isn't deflected he sweeps up but he's left in no mans land. Just a really unfortunate goal to concede. It happens. Other than that he had his usual quality game.
Eh? You've given the reason why he SHOULD be dropped. Positioning and getting across quickly enough to keep a not too hard shot out are basic GK skills.
It was actually struck quite fiercely by Payet, he knew if he could get it over the wall he had a chance of scoring on that side. Maybe giving away free kicks in such positions should get the more experienced Lallana dropped, no?
I think you'll find almost all supporters think that about their team. I'm sure West Ham fans view that as 2 points dropped with Randolph's mistake. To be fair to West Ham they put in a performance that was more reminiscent of their form last season with their defenders putting their bodies on the line and being a threat on the break. You might say their goals could've been avoided but I'm sure they are saying the same about the goals we scored. I know people are disappointed because Arsenal put 5 past them last weekend and they've been pretty **** for most of the season but Spurs and Chelsea had huge trouble against them and both needed late winners to get past them. Thing is, I'm not whining about the result, I'm pretty relaxed about it, 1 or 2 bad results does not make me go into meltdown and write us off for the title, just like 1 or 2 wins doesn't send me into a frenzy where I think we are going to win all the trophies we are competing in. We are still in the title race in the middle of December and are in the semi-finals of the league cup. Instead of putting things into perspective and accepting that we've had two pretty bad days at the office but overall we've had a good season up to this point people are discussing the possibility of us not getting top 4 and how **** it would be if we didn't make it. That's the type of poisonous negativity Klopp was complaining about in the ground, because we've had so many years without success we are so pessimistic and turn every small set back into a disastrous event that cannot be recovered from.
