Palace should be the last side to moan about player's diving. Zaha and Bolasie (when he was there) were renowned for it. What people seem to be missing is that the pen is actually caused by Dann flying in and being nowhere near the ball. If he doesn't go in like that then there's no reason for Snodgrass to go down.
Keepers roll all over the place in 50/50 challenges. Defenders do it now, just to get possession back. Like it or not it's quickly become part of the game and it's here to stay.
My pet hate is when a player is backed into a corner, they stand over the ball, wait for a touch and throw themselves on the floor, the referee always gives it as a free-kick and its just blatant cheating. If they didn't give those as fouls and the opposition took the ball, crossed it in and scored, players would soon stop doing it.
Events yesterday were a timely reminder of why I used to think Snodgrass was a massive twat, when he played for Leeds. I like him a lot more now.
When you think about it,teams would be playing 5 a side if the refs cracked down on it properly. Maybe that's the reason they don't do it in certain parts of the pitch. I blame the Italians and Latin America, they started it in my book, our lot just copy what they see going on and managers like Venger ' did not see it'.
Let's not pretend Snoddy's the first - Elmo and the famous hand of God, Long constantly fell over, Deano every time someone touched him he'd fall forward, Meyler is always falling over etc etc etc- the game is infested with cheating and has only got worse because no-one does anything about it
Terrible dive to watch , I don't mind the diving because it's happened plenty of times to us, but usually players wait until the Defender is in the same half ..... Have to question the ref tho surely ? They are supposed to give penalties for seeing fouls , how can they see something which blatantly did happen , and just shows they guess .. Snodgrass should be punished , but the referee should be made to answer just why he blew up and gave a penalty
I have to say watching it from S. E. Corner both decisions at the time looked spot on .. but should have guessed after awarding the Snoddy penalty the ref was looking to even things up .. his performance was shocking to the extreme .. some of the decisions were absolutely astonishing .. I think it was Elmo that was taken out in midair by one Palace defender .. totally flattened then had the free kick awarded against him and subsequently booked for dissent .. that ref yesterday should never set foot on a pitch again until he learns the rules .. having watched m.o.d last night they choose to focus on our given penalty and suggest all 3 of theirs should have been given .. absolute tosh .. they were creaming about Saha (yes he played well) yet no mention of Thudd having controlled the game for the best part of the match .. typically southern bias but hey ho nothing were not used to by now
The ref had his authority undermined when their whingers swarmed him after our pen. It was a Shay Given that he would seek to redress the damage, and his decision-making was shaky from that point on. There was no chance he would give another pen after this controversy- he's on the PL gravy train and no way would he jeopardise that by giving 3 pens in a game. He'd draw attention to his handling of the game, and risk being dropped off the roster.
Right up there as one of the worst refereeing performances I have seen. They have a tough job I know, but they are supposed to be professional and yesterday he was awful. An absolute shambles from start to finish - I hope he gets dropped from PL games.
