Zenden will not be with us next season http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...n_confirms_he_will_leave_sunderland_1_3383500
Typical getting rid of a goal scoring midfielder, sums Bruce up really. Many Sunderland fans will be sad to see Bolo go but he will be another club's gain in my opinion and will probably score against us next season for whoever he ends up at.
Good luck to him Would be great for him to go somewhere like QPR/Norwich and be the first name on the teamsheet....maybe even captain He deserves it...total professional with a great ethic!
Although a great player its another wage we can't afford to pay for someone to sit on the bench. Although i would of offered him a coaching role but if the lad thinks he can play every week good luck to him personally i think his age will catch up with him next year. Just my opinion
Big miss on and off the pitch, why Bruce didn't play him more I do not know, especially with all of our injury problems. Zenden is in fine shape for his age, doesn't drink or smoke and does martial arts. Good luck to him, a true professional and I don't blame him for leaving.
Seems he wasn't interested is part-player, part-coach with us? Shame. I rate him but at 34 could he last a complete season of games? Wish he'd stay, but wish him luck if he goes.
Should have kept him. Still quick and skillful and has a good work ethic, as mentioned above. Stamina may be fading, but we could live with that.
It's not a case of we 'should have kept him'.....he would have asked Bruce if he was gauranteed starts...and he won't be....you can't gaurantee him that....that's what he wants so he should be allowed to leave and it's fair do's
I reckon he should have played more as he does score goals and it was obvious Steed was not going to score this season and young Mr Henderson was knackered...So SB has got rid, or Bolo has had enough of crass stupidity..How many more of SBs poor decisions have we to put up with!
Another strange decision, apparently Zenden wanted regular first team football which we were not prepared to give him. To be fair to the bloke I would have tried a little harder to get him in as some sort of coach bags of experience from International to CL football but, that seems to count for nothing. I don't blame him for leaving he has sat on the bench watching dross week in and week out knowing that he could do better, as said good luck to him our loss will be someone else's gain.
No surprise and sad to see that the Bruce out boys cant help but dig. Just think of the headlines,"Bruce puts bid in for 35 year old midfielder and promises he will start most games", I can hear the Bruce outers from here.
Whoa! I can hear the Bruce in-ners from here too. I don't give twopence if Zenden's 35. I remember a 17 year-old in a blue and white striped shirt ripping England apart at Wembley. I also remember Stanley Matthews playing quality top division games at 50. I'd have kept Bolo simply because the man is good enough. Stuff his age.
Top class pro, great footballer and a cracking bloke to boot. However, no club can guarantee a 34/35 year old player first team footy unless he was David Beckham. Zenden should have played a bigger part this season given all the hooha about injuries but with a full compliment (hopefully) next season, a place on the bench is the best he could have expected and that should go to a young player in his debut season, not an old one at the end of an illustrious career. Good luck though Bolo. Your time here will be remembered with much affection
