Bet that's just the start of it. I can't see this virus not being a problem until July or August at the earliest
They may play the games behind closed doors. If not, then, yes, I agree, there are going to be some very bad tempered football fans up north
I really think the season will get cancelled with no ups/downs/champions. We have Euros this year and they are already saying they will be postponed for a year. Many clubs rely on gate revenue so many will be in the @@@@. Some will get done with FFP... especially if they don't go up. I see big problems ahead for football. let's hope the FA actually do something?
If it were to extend beyond the season; could it mean no promotions or relegations for the current season. It wouldn’t be fair on those at the bottom if they couldn’t complete their remaining games, equally promotion opportunities are still open so couldn’t be judged as fair on other teams.
They are cancelling the games because players/coaches have the virus, not as a public health measure, I think. Some significant short term pain but might be the shake up which our football needs. How will Sky and others who’s revenue depends on showing football cope?
Mmm.....this could have huge ramifications. They certainly can't call anyone league winners, champions league qualifiers or promoted or relegated with so many points still to play for. They might very well call this season null and void . I for one won't be gloating about that concerning teams like Liverpool. They are a fantastic team and clearly the best in the country and were definitely going to win the league. Things are going to get very bumpy.
As someone posted on LFW'S give Liverpool the trophy and then take it back from them after 14 minutes.......
I'm relieved. I was going to miss my first home game for 20 years or so tomorrow due to the fact that there is simply no way people can follow hygiene guidance in the cesspit that is the Ellerslie Road stand. To wash your hands properly in the dribble of water available in gents' would likely take an individual past half-time by which stage I'd probably need to go again (being an old codger ). Hopefully the club will review this archaic situation during the down time but I'm not holding my breath. On another note, while I don't want to be too cynical at a time like this but I bet the likes of Derby are breathing a huge sigh of relief. I doubt the League will have the bottle to do anyone for FFP infringements when all clubs are going to lose large amounts of revenue due to the crisis. I just hope QPR press them to revisit the issue once things improve.
One thing I haven’t heard much about is players’ contracts. This season could well go into July by which time loads will be out of contract theoretically mid-season. The loanees, Cameron, Hall, Pugh and a few others are technically not QPR players as it stands on July 1st.
National league games still going on providing that neither team has no one in isolation. Sensible approach.
