The right decision but where do we go from here?

I actually thought he was a good appointment for the blue few when made manager. So it didn't turn out to be or is it down to having a poor squad?

can't wait for someone tomention Eddie Howe :emoticon-0114-dull:

never thought Tisdale was good, We dont want Holloway, I would favour the likes of Sol Campbell
He would frighten the board as he would bring new ideas. It is not good to bring in failures. although Howe was not a failure, the board was just expecting too much too quickly, and I expect he would be expensive

In theory he was a decent candidate Massive, but his track record at L1 level isn’t good (and is now even worse) and he didn’t seem to be able to motivate or organise the team. His substitutions always seemed to make things worse and his general tactics were bizarre. Last night he played a 33 year old winger (Alex Rodman) who has played about an hour of football this season up front - that’s one example of many.

We desperately need a striker but there should be enough in this squad not to be where we are.

F knows where we go from here.

Eddie Howe is over-rated and not good enough for our club! No manager of note could achieve anything other than relegation with the current squad in the time frame we have left. Whoever gets the poisoned chalice of the job will need to be happy to have a relegation on their cv before rebuilding the team and attempting to climb back to div 1 in the next few seasons. We are a league 2 side (at best) masquerading as a league 1 side, and thanks to appalling player and manager recruitment, we have now been found out. Much as I don't wish more failure on my club, I think survival this season could be disasterous for us, as next season would simply be a repeat of this one - constant defeat, let downs and disappointments. We need a good clear out of inadequate players, and a complete rethink of how good we really are, start rebuilding from the bottom with a realistic manager that cares about the club and inspires passion in the players.

    @Bluebaldee

I liked him, I thought he was doing a great job for you.

If you want a championship manager, I know one and he’s local to you lot. Apparently he gets the jobs because he’s a nice human?

Widdrington placed in charge until appointment is made according to the local news, be interesting to see if a striker appears now. Did one not appear because Tisdale and Widdrington didn't agree on the right type of player
Mel Gwinnett football operations has also left the club today

I wasn't keen on him at all. Very experienced for L2 but every time he has been in L1 he doesn't last. He is not good enough for this league, especially for a team who wants to be at the right end. I was willing to give him a chance because he has good form with working with youngsters, which we have our fair share of. But he never said the right things for me. Had bags of excuses. Used wrong formations, wrong tactics and playing players out of position. You could see what was going to happen when you see the team sheet before kick off. The fact he lasted this long is remarkable. I usually support the manager when the going gets tough. I did so for Garner. But for Tisdale, I wanted him gone after game 1 for him. We then had a good run and then he decided to change things and mess about and we haven't won since. Football is worse now than what it was under Garner. With Tisdale in charge, I literally couldn't tell you where we would get our next win from. Or even our next goal. We are at a point where every single game is a must win game. Yet last night, he dropped a couple of our attacking players to rest them. I mean WTF! It was like he did it deliberately so he can get sacked, especially after the game when he said in his interview about lack of signings in January, pretty much blaming the board.

To me, Tisdale was a fraud and stealing a living from us and has put us in an awful position.

The board rushed his appointment. They allowed Garner to have a lack of strikers. They allowed no strikers to come in January. The board has to take a massive part of the blame. Shared with Garner and Tisdale.

We need a manager who will literally stuff rockets at the players arses. A Roy Keane type. But not him.
Someone with Holloway's passion. But not him.
Someone who knows the club well enough to know what us the fans expect from them.
Someone who will demand respect and can actually get the best out of the players, the experienced and youth.
Someone who could attract a striker who is without a club who can help us.
Someone who can just get the players to go back to basics. Sort the spine out and defend well and make us hard to beat.

With PT, we were doomed with these players. Without him and without knowing who is coming in, I actually feel optimistic about survival.

CJS Tisdale stated that the board were ready to back him in the transfer window and Al Qadi also said that they were ready to back him in the transfer window. I wondered if the lack of movement was down to a lack of trust in Widdrington and that he only wanted players that he knew eg Williams at RB when w already had 2 RBs at the club. It will be interesting to see if any free agents come in shortly or whether they will wait until a man or woman is appointed. If there are free agents looking for a club then a short term contract until season ends with a promise that if he impresses the new manager and does his job eg score / assist with goals that keep us in league1he would be offered a new contract

After Widdrington was in charge for 1 game against Chelsea u21's and we won that game 3-2, the club made a big deal about it and called him 'Mr 100%'. So as he is now in control of team affairs again, lets see what he can do. After all, he was the guy who signed / authorised their signings so should know all about the players and how to get the best out of them.

Widds will also be assisted by Jack Mesure and Kevin Maher.

Yes, I’m very certain that you thought he was doing a great job for us!

We don’t want a Championship manager - just one who knows what he’s doing and can motivate the players.

I’ve got misgivings about Widdrington too. As Head of Recruitment he’s responsible for the players we have at the club and the glaring lack of a capable striker.

He’s also now a board member, so we’ll be in the strange position of having a manager who’s also got a seat on the board which could sack him.

As CJS and others have said, we need a manager with experience who’s not afraid to put some rockets up these underperforming players.

Widdrington will be in charge for a few games at least. It all seems pretty toxic again. Let's hope it doesn't affect the players too much.

What about Joey Barton? Clash at Fleetwood but up to that point he did well enough in league one. He doesn't take a load of nonsense but you would have to look past a few flaws to say the least. Maybe he needs to prove some wrong as much as you need someone with passion. Marmite type I know and not sure I'd want him at Argyle but we aren't currently in your position.

Not for me. He has the passion and knows how to shout at to our bunch of pansies but too much baggage for my liking.
