Following the retirement of Hashim Amla, Joe Root is the highest aggregate run scorer of current players:

    6894 - Joe Root
    6839 - Ross Taylor
    6673 - Virat Kohli
    6577 - Steve Smith
    6442 - David Warner
    6163 - Kane Williamson
    5669 - Azhar Ali
    5641 - Angelo Mathews
    5453 - Cheteshwar Pujara

A golden era of batting?? It will be fascinating to see how far Root/Kohli/Smith/Williamson get in their careers

Virat Kohli today scored 254 not out against South Africa - his highest test score

That's now 7054 test runs at an average of 55.10 (26 hundreds and 22 fifties)

A class act both on and off the field
