to be fair mate edwards broke his leg in his 2nd premier league game at birmingham and never really recovered, i know where you're coming from though
My guess, either we will match the bid ormore than likely Zog will pull out saying terms couldn't be agreed. We wait a week or so for Whelans arse to start twitching then we come in with a reduced bid and Zog signs.
I don't really mind, we have more than enough midfielders. Yes, he would have been class, but our team can function without him.
He hasn't gone there yet. Here's a scenario. SNQ & Bruce have held back until a fee has been agreed of say the £9.5m. Whelan wanted an auction but has now been forced to accept £9.5m as the selling price. We can now enter the fray for the same amount and steal the deal from under the Villa noses? If we had gone toe to toe with Villa the fee may well have risen up to £12m or £14m as each club looked to outbid each other. It may not be this way but its entirely possible. I cant believe after chasing him for the best part of 2 years, we are going got give on a player we really want, after paying £8.5m for Wickham who is only 18 years old? Doesn't make sense at all. I'd say there is still life in this deal for us, until I see him unveiled at Villa Park that is of course.
Even of this were to happen, I highly doubt Wigan would go for us rather than Villa, there's no real reason why they would sell the Zog to another club after accepting a bid from another, (let's face it), bigger club than Sunderland.
Can't see them baulking at a few million on wages after what Villa have in the bank, Cest. I think that this time he's definitely gone...
If Wigan accept a bid for a set amount then they are obliged legally to accept the same bid from another club. Then its up to Zog where he wants to go. If they didn't then that would be favouritism and the FA would come down on them like a ton of bricks.
To be honest, if we do match Villas bid, I don't think Wigan will give a toss who they sell him to. All they will want is the money. I'd love to know how much of the reported £9.5 million will be up front! IF we do put a bid in and it's accepted, then it gets interesting! The question is, will we put in an 11th hour bid in? I'm not so sure
Everyone seems to be under the belief that its Wigan who can chose where N'Zogbia will be going? If we match Villas bid and N'Zogbia says he want to come here, there isn't a thing (except sell to no-one of course) that they can do. Even if we dont match the bid, N'Zogbia could just say no thanks to Villa anyway. Remember, if he hangs around for another year, he will receive a massive signing on fee as a free agent anyway but Wigan will get **** all in a fee. Whelan may be a stubborn old ****er but he hasn't become a multi-millionaire businessman throughout all these years by using his heart to do his dealings with. He has to sell N'Zogbia or will be left pot less in 12 months. Thats a bum deal for everyone. As I said, the fee may be agreed but that means **** all until he has actually signed the paperwork at Villa. We shall see.
Some of you make me larf, people will be getting treatment in Wearside clinics for N'zogbia depression soon. We're not bidding on N'zog, no noises coming out of SAFC to say we will, in fact completely the opposite. Villa have the capital to offer him a healthy package, there's absolutely no reason N'zog wont end up there. Move on, there's more to SAFC than a player that never was!
So where is all this "five year deal" coming from? It's obvious personal terms are not a problem and by all accounts it seems like a done deal. Gutted if this is so as it shows we aren't able to compete with the likes of villa even though we have also sold two big players (Bent/Henderson) for more money than (Young/Downing)! I could be proved wrong and would be happy if I was but I thought the capture of N'Zog was more than just about getting a quality player but a statement of intent.
Well the fee is ridiculous when he could have left on a free transfer and we could have paid him £60,000 a week, but Charlie adams would have been better.
N'Zogbia can't possibly be signing for Villa. Didn't Syd post that Big Chris has decreed on another site that N'Zogbia was signing for us this week. And, as you all know, BC NEVER gives wrong information.
Interesting that despite most folks thinking that Villa's manegerial appointment is a step backwards and the the fact that they've sold of some of their key players there are a significant number of people who seem to think that Villa are a currently a bigger club*... I personally think that Villa will struggle this year despite the undoubted goal-getting ability that Zog and Bent would bring them. *by 'bigger' in this context I'm simply talking about likely league position and 'health' of the club I'm not saying that for a good few years now Villa have not been much more successful than us. I guess where his interest lies depends on whether Zog is one of those people who sees Villa being a force to be reckoned with... that's always assuming SB is still interested, (I flip flop on this and I'm dissapointed when I don't think we are getting him and then worried about his effect on the dressing room when I think we might be). I would have thought that Zog would have appreciated/craved the adulation that NE teams bestow on their players - despite a history of being let down by our 'stars' but maybe the WAG factor makes Villa more attractive by the very fact it's closer to London?!! I think it's perhaps an indication that it will take a while before we're seen as 'fashionable' as we were in the 1950s (if ever again) - that's one thing I think Roy Kean brought that Steve Bruce lacks... a certain 'glamour' however misplaced.
anyone translate the best bits? Emery TAISNE
Alex McLeish has the sequence of ideas. Last year, when he officiated at Birmingham City, the Scotland manager had made heaven and earth to secure the services of Charles N'Zogbia, before the French international, disappointed with the contract offered to him, will withdraw eventually. Twelve months later, the technician did apparently are not required strict. Now on the bench for Aston Villa, McLeish has obtained the agreement of Wigan for the transfer of Franco-Congolese 25. "Not yet, I must agree on the terms of the contract. But normally the hardest part, "the former Le Havre nuance. Barring unlikely situation, it will engage "in the next three days" with the Villans compensation for close to 11 million euros. Time announced in Liverpool, Arsenal or ... Marseille midfielder will therefore continue his career at a club used to play "six to seven first places" of the Premier League. He hoped that occurs most exclusive club? "No, he swears. Liverpool or Arsenal could position itself, I would still went to Villa. It's been two-three weeks the club has done everything for me. And there, there are good players like Bent or Agbonlahor. It's a good challenge and one more for my career. " While the claims of Wigan had pushed mid-June to consider waiting a year to go free, N'Zogbia said today he never doubted the outcome. "They had to sell me ... Benef it was all '. " "What is with Laurent Blanc is that no matter where you play, if you're good, you will have your chance. He opened the France team for all professional players, whereas before, it was not really obvious. " A Villa, N'Zogbia will benefit from better exposure in the context of team France and Euro 2012. "But it does not really count in my choice, says it again. What is good with Laurent Blanc is that no matter where you play, if you're good, you will have your chance. He opened the France team for all professional players, whereas before, it was not really clear. " If his goal scored against Poland (1-0), on June 9 in a friendly, gives him some chance of being called back for the Blues match against Chile, on August 10 in Montpellier, the player trained at Le Havre says "expect nothing". "Compared to that, I'm quiet. I think first to ensure that it goes well in my new club. Otherwise, it is only a bonus. "
