Bobby urges R’s fans to show their support as new-look QPR finds its feet ...

I am sure we will come good. I just ask everyone to stick behind us"

    Bobby Zamora

BOBBY Zamora has called on the QPR fans to continue showing their support for the team as the players get used to each other in the opening weeks of the season.

Zamora produced a man-of-the-match performance in Rangers’ 3-0 Capital One Cup victory over Walsall on Tuesday evening, and the former Fulham front-man hopes the impressive team display is the catalyst for the campaign.

“It’s important to remember that there are a lot of new faces in this team,” Zamora told www.qpr.co.uk. “We are not all going to click straight away, it’s not going to be perfect from the get-go.

“I have heard a few mumbles already but people just need to give us some time. I am sure we will come good. I just ask everyone to stick behind us.”

The R’s made a disappointing start to the 2012/13 campaign with a 5-0 home defeat to Swansea but followed that up with a hard-fought draw at Norwich City last weekend prior to Tuesday night’s convincing cup triumph.

“It can be tough when there are so many new faces,” Zamora explained. “Normally there might be one or two at the start of a new season, but with us it’s four or five so it takes a little bit of time for everybody to fully understand what each other’s strengths are.

“This doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s a case of playing together and learning. It will happen and when it does I am sure we will have a very strong side.”

Zamora was at his best against the Saddlers, setting up Shaun Wright-Phillips for the opener in the first half before adding a second with a sublime chip after the break. Jose Bosingwa completed the scoring with a close-range volley.

“It was ok, it was ok,” Zamora said of his own performance. “I was pleased with the goal obviously but more pleased with the result. All round, it was a good day. It’s always nice to win.

“I tried to do my bit for the team. It was a case of trying to play in the pocket and looking to play in AJ or whoever else I could.

“I was happy to set Wrighty up, I always enjoy setting people up.”

Zamora also reserved special praise for Alejandro Faurlin who came through 90 minutes of action in what was his first appearance since rupturing his ACL at MK Dons in January.

“It’s great to see Ale come through the game,” Zamora added. “He’s a great character and a very good player. I am extremely pleased for him and I hope he can continue his good form.”

So, there you have it from someone inside the club. Ok, official news isn't always completely honest and open but can anyone who has been really negative and thinking we're in a bad situation read that and not think the team, manager and owners don't deserve a chance to get to grips with all the big changes?

Same from me disapointed in some people's reaction and I hope after signing the next few players fans will realise that it may take a bit longer still as these players are integrated into life in the Premiership along with the others, good things come to those that wait.

I'm getting to like Zamora more and amore. He typifies the spirit we need to get through this difficult gelling period, although he won't need much or any himself. I found this article quite stirring.

Agree with all of you, can’t believe some of our fans were singing paddy’s song on the first game of the season.
