Inspired somewhat by WWDW's comment in another thread, I thought I'd ask this question: what was your first Fulham game away from Craven Cottage*? My first away game was Chelsea in 2004. Particularly memorable in a strange way because Duffer scored the winner - just sadly for the wrong team! I have to say that it was a great experience. Sadly I've not been to many Fulham away games though, with a subsequent Chelsea game in 2010 the other game I've been to. So what was your first experience and was it memorable? I'm especially looking forward to the thoughts of some of our more distinguished members, who may well have been more committed than me over the years! *Loftus Road does not count. I try to forget those years.
Barnet away was I think the first - Still rememberable for the woeful performance by Uriah Rennie. Followed-up with Hereford (boring 0-0), Torquay (lost 2-3??), win at Orient (Terry Angus leading the Crowd). Oh, how we knew to live in those days! Never made Reading (yet). Never been to a Fulham away game in over 40 years of supporting them, but my first ever away game for my "other" team, Sevilla was in 2005 at the Camp Nou. Which was nice.
Think mine was a local match at Ninian Park against Cardiff City in 1997/98. All I remember was that Keegan was in charge and PETER BEARDSLEY was playing! I was star-struck.
I think mine was Bradford City in the early 90s. I had a week off planned, so I checked Fulham's fixtures and arranged to visit an old friend who lived in Bradford and 'coincidentally' take in the football. She tolerated the rather obvious reason for my visit. When we went behind Martin Pike, Jeff Eckhardt and - of course - Simon Morgan all excelled in refusing to roll over and starting the fight-back. We got hammered 4-1 in the end (might have been 4-2). After that my friend took me out for quite the best and cheapest curry I've ever had. I've had a smattering of away games over the years, but mostly when Fulham have come near to wherever I was living or visiting. Apart from the aforementioned, I've visited Peterborough, Colchester, Exeter, Burnley, Everton, Bournemouth and (just recently) Southampton. Everton was a birthday present from Mrs Captain's parents. We joked beforehand that it was the ideal present from my mother-in-law: something that I actually wanted, but which also had the potential to be upsetting and disappointing. We lost 4-1 and Coleman was sacked the following week. Zat Knight gave the world's worst ever display by someone with a cap for England.
Well as I live in Leicester mine was Fulham vs Leicester in the cup in 2000 i think then again in 2007 when we had Montella.
Pretty sure it was a defeat at Brighton during the relegation season to the bottom flight, just after Don Mackay got the boot. I think Paul Dickov scored for them. Fair to say both clubs have moved on since then.
Fulham & away game stories? wow, there'll be load of contributors to this one I'm sure lads. I counted 84 of you at Goodison one year.

Likewise Tobelerone, I'm sure it will be a good game. I've been enjoying your good start and hope you keep it going AFTER this weekend. On the subject of our away attendances, yes they've been awful for a few years, but we sold out our allocation at our last two away games. Admittedly, it's a very recent change, but it does mean you're wrong to suggest it's a current problem. Just saying.
Arsenal v Fulham 1967 lost 5-3 I was standing in what was called their Enclosure near the North Bank think it was a wet and dull day in Nov or Oct, but the game was good, can remember I think it was Jimmy Conway who scored one of our goals. I don't know why other fans and media have a fixation on the number of fans we take away. We have quality fans as opposed to quantity.
sick of the cheap jibes about away support. My first away game was at Brammall Lane, Sheffield United mid 70's. I was very young of course!
To be fair, they lose every year at Goodison (like we used to at Craven Cottage) so it is not a surprise!

Resorting to attendance figures to win an argument is like pointing out people's poor grammar. Pointless. Games aren't won on based on how many fans turn up. Our away support is a lot better than people think. Didn't we take something like 4000 up to Southampton?
Reading sold out. Games coming up - Arsenal, sold out; Chelsea; sold out. Getting back on track and the Thread. My first away game, I remember it well - we wuz robbed !! FA Cup semi against Burnley in 1962 at Villa park. Jim Langley had a blinder and my hero (at the time) Graham Leggat scored for us about half way through the first half. It snowed as well ! They equalised with a breakaway in the second. Maurice Cook missed a sitter late on for us, Didn't go to the the replay but that was a liberty on their part as well, by all accounts. Never did like their chairman, Bob Lord.
