http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2868468,00.html Another great win for the kids. Sinclair in particular must be knocking loudly on the first team squads door! These really are exciting times. We must have the best group of kids since the Wallace, Le God days. Lots to look forward too. COYR!
I am getting seriously concerned, I fear if we do not start sending some of the older youngsters out on loan, there may be backlog of players that will hinder thier developement and that of the 15 year olds. The U18 had 3 15 year olds in the team which I suppose is because they are rated highly and not just to make up the numbers. I do not know if we will be in the reserve league this year, but there is not enough games for the younsters. There are teams, like Donny or dare I say Pompey that are finacially strapped and could recieve maybe 6 trainee´s that are 18 or above. They can practice all they want, but at the end of the day it is about pitch time. We will hurt our chances in the youth cups and leagues, but longterm will benifit the club
The lads who aren't offered professional terms get released at the end of their scholarships. By their second year, we tend to have a pretty good idea of who those players are. The older boys who are good enough will play with the U21 side. Professional academies release hundreds of players and a few of them work their way back up.
Saints will only send players out on loan if it will really benefit them. They are monitored so closely and their development planned so carefully that no risk will be taken with them. We would have to trust the coaching squad at the recipient club.
I have full faith in the trainers, but the U21 play once or twice a month, its probably the only fault with Shaw,Stephens and JWP- they lack playing time
