Todays rumour is that the Yak is set to sign. This rumour is all over twitter and the mirror came up with it today. The price on twitter is 3.5M. We paid 3M for Waggy so that seems about right. If we are willing to pay that for Yak and not willing to pay for Naughton what the hell is Naughtons price tag? http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...fter-successful-loan-spell-article745701.html
I think if push came to shove we would pay the asking price for Naughton, but it's not in our hands as reportedly QPR are after him and Naughton may prefer playing in the Premier League than the Championship!
I think this could mean were struggling to get Heskey, but the thought of a front three of Heskey, The Yak, and Gallaghino is just too good.
Yak may be a lazy git sometimes, but he is a goalscorer and someone who could be absolutely vital for our promotion push. On last season's performance, he could easily score 25 goals over a full season WITH a pre-season campaign under his belt. If we can also get Heskey, who could create chances for King and Gally, then IMO we'd be half way to promotion.
I dont think Heskey and Yak would work as a front 2. Gally isnt a striker in my opinion as his finishing isnt good enough and he lacks strength and pace. He is best off on the wing. If we sign Yakubu, Kamara and one more striker along with Waghorn, Howard and Vassell then that should be enough up top
Naughton isn't going to happen! We've heard too many negative reports and people at the club saying the price is too high for it to still have a future. Normally when a deal goes through you only hear positive whispers and the like but not here! Sadly!!! Yakubu will score around 15-20 goals next season and if King can do what he did and another striker get 10 or so and we should be well on our way! I feel if we get Yakubu then Kamara will be more inclined to accept the contract as they are good friends apparently. So in theory we'll be getting two strikers for £3.5M!
We was told last season we had no chance of signing Waghorn and he would cost too much but we signed him so dont give up on Naughton yet
We should of went all out to sign Naughton in January when his price tag wouldnt of been that high. With QPR trying to loan we just got him on loan again instead of risking losing him while trying to sign him because he would of had to return to spurs as his loan would have expired
As infuriating as the Yak is - I think we should sign him as he knows where the goal is. - I do though reserve the right to turn to my mates and say why the **** have we signed that fat lazy useless bastard in any game he doesn't score in though
My thoughts exactly Danger! Not a game went by where I didn't shout '50 ****ing grand!' ... although it turns out he's on 35k, but the sentiment is there.
Making the Yak our first signing would send out a message we mean business and a big name signing would encourage others to sign. Get the Yak signed
The pressure's going to be on him to deliver. In all honesty I'd prefer it if we were going all out to get Maynard and I'd even prefer Kamara. But when the Yak wants it he does have it in him no doubt. I don't want people to start complaining halfway through the season that we are struggling to break teams down and we are being dominated away from home and wondering why though.
I think Yakubu needs to work harder for the team still. However, I think he realised this when we played Watford at home (?) and Sven dropped him and he came on and scored 2. If he can do that, then we've got a good deal at 3.5 mil. because he will score goals.
If the yak scores 20 goals and lights up the Walkers with the odd stunner as he did at Derby, then i will sing his praises all day long. but occassionally im likely to revert to calling him a fat lazy bastard when things arnt going are way!!!!!
Signing players like the Yak has to be a move forward for LCFC... normaly yes, but it could turn out to be... "since the Yak has sign on a pernanment he has´nt been the same as he was on loan". But he is a ave prem player & that´s what SGE/LCFC should be looking for to gain promotion this season coming. I want him, but I think our GK & DEF problems need an overhaul minus a couple of DEF´s COOOOOME OOOOOON YOOOOOU BLUUUUUES!!!
I do worry about the way we shipped goals from nowhere last season - There were some very good players in that defence who seemed incapable of staying focused for a full game. Do you think the opposition just expected to score against us which gave them a physoclogical boost?
Not really, most teams would worry about what they were going to let in with Yak and Vassel up front last season. I cant see how its going to work this season tbh, if hes keeping 4-3-3 i can't see Vassell, Yak, and Kamara all playing at the same time. Please Sven, put Vassell in the centre of the the park pushing against defenders and makeing runs!
I say get the Yak in, he will score 20+ goals. We know what we will get from him, games where he will be on fire & others where he will go missing and look disinterested but providing we have quality replacements who can step in when he's not doing the business he will definitely be a big asset and cause problems for other defences.
Yak will be lazy we will all moan saying we paid 3.5M and he is on 30K a week etc. But he will stick the ball in the back of the net on a regular basic
