OK, what was the name of a very fast sprinter in the late 1960's, a stone below top class but who quite possibly would have been a champion had the minimum sprint distance been 4-furlongs. The horse always blasted off in front and then tried to hang on as his stamina gave out in the fifth furlong, but still won four races as a juvenile and just one as a 3-year-old, in a total of 16-races. The horse's dad was an Arc winner. Name the horse and its sire. Don't think a clue is necessary but since it's a while ago: Two words for both horses, first words are the same.

Ron: I was referring to SA in answer to Nassau's post! You are almost there, the first name on your list of three is correct, the rest should be easy! This sprinter was an absolute flyer, but really was an American-style quarterhorse, I would say. His last win, the only one as a 3-y-o, was at the old Kempton Park track's straight, fast, and flat 5f, and he just fell over the line and won by the shortest of margins, after being way ahead at the furlong pole.
