Wumming, at its best, is an art form, and is something to be admired. Sadly, we see little quality wumming from rival fans, for them subtlety is something that gymnasts have.
WUMS? You ain't seen WUMS. You should have seen the Chelsea board during the JT court case or Ballboy-gate/Clattenburg, or even the prelude to the CL semi final and final. We're indunated with smug Man U WUMs every day. Seriously you Spurs lot have it good, I don't go on the Mouser thread but there always seems a reasonable level of discussion here with little interference from WUMs
As YV has said, everyone is always free to PM a mod if they have a complaint. The three of us are united in our view that the board should be as open as possible but we draw a very firm line on personal abuse. We will always act on gratuitous WUMming but banter is part and parcel of the game, we have to deal with each case on it's merits. The more successful Spurs are on the pitch the more we will attract idiots to the board but we are determined to help maintain the board at it's current high level. We're on the case as you can see with the closure of a thread by PNP today when we had the return of a prize West Ham plum from old 606 day's. He was gone before he'd shut his mouth after opening it to release his usual rubbish.
A little Wumming - apart from being in Somerset - is actually a good thing in my opinion. If you do not get people from other teams coming on with a gentle wind up now and again then these boards become stale - let's face it you know what opinion most of your fellow fans have and so roughly what they will say about a subject. A wum will create a bit of controversy and banter which especially on our board is usually met with good humour and some very cleaver ripostes. I don't like excessive bad language - but anyone can filter that if they wish anyway and as said earlier excessive personal abuse is not what we really want to read. This is one of the best boards on not606 and congrats to our mods for the part they play in keeping it that way - oh but I think the £20 per hour plus expenses they get is slightly high
Well i'm gonna be on my best behaviour. No slagging off wums for me any more, i'm getting a little scared of YV ;-) I think he might come and get me. I dunno whether this thread had an affect but yesterday was a pretty good day on here for debate.
According to Google, WUM is a town in Cameroon or Warszawskim Uniwersytecie Medycznym (Medical University of Warsaw) or a Web Utilisation Miner or Windows Update Manager amongst other things. Very Confusing. Where's Holte?
Why do people accuse the Mouse Watch thread as a wum thread? It is far from that. I set that thread up in order to enable us Spurs fans to discuss, in a serous manner, the decline of LFC and the delusion of its fans. Initially, it did attract Mousers whose prime intention was to disrupt the thread and have it closed down, but our Mods (god bless them!) would not fall for that ploy, and, in time, even Mousers have come to know that Mouser Watch is a valuable resource, the one place where they can come to obtain a completely unbiased and objective view of the state of football at LFC. More than that, they know that the comments on Mouser Watch hold a mirror up to their delusions and thereby enables them to see themselves how us normal fans see them. It has, for them, become a cathartic thread. If, one day, 'Pool fans throw away their shell-suits, their bunting, and their Cilla Black records, and rejoice at drawing at home against the likes of QPR and Stoke, and count as a successful season that they are not relegated, the Mouser Watch thread will surely be hailed as the greatest thread ever to have graced an internet Sports forum. How on earth anyone can view the Mouser Watch thread as nothing more than a wum-thread is completely beyond me.
