This is just a friendly question/comment for the mods, i don't mean anything personal by it, i'm just a little frustrated by the site at the moment. Without naming names we have a few permo-wums on our board. Yes, we can ignore them, but when every other comment on a thread is from one of them and then the rest are in response you have to view their posts anyway to work out what the hell is going on. Other than sanctions against these permo-wums the only thing we can do is hit back at them, but then we get told off like naughty schoolboys (ok, i am a naughty schoolboy sometimes but ignore that). It seems to me that over the last few months the good debate from 95% of the users on here is just swamped by out and out wums or sniper/ninja wums. I expect wumming on threads like the mouser thread as those are kinda asking for it and its fair game, but virtually every thread? Yes, i could have PM'd this to one of the mods but i can't be the only one getting frustrated by this? Surely! I'm not THAT sensitive. I used to post a lot more on this site, in a grown up way, but i now feel that the only thing worth doing is insulting the wums, that can't be what the board is after.
Personally I get a little buzz out of "wumming" the wum's so for me it doesn't bother too much but I see where you're coming from. Clearly these "wums" don't have enough topics on their own club so they feel the need to come over here and TRY and look like a keyboard warrior/ internet hooligan. We should look at it in a positive light, it clearly shows that a wum is thinking more about our club/ fans rather than their own... Quite sad really. Funny, but sad.
Spurm, the best thing to do it just ignore it. i used to be the same as you. - but it doesn't go away and more just appear as users on the site grow. It's far far worse on other websites, trust me. Our mods to a great job on here, so just try your best to block it out For every annoying comment that's posted just to try and reel us in, there are some genuinely funny ones though. Some of the WUMS are so ****ing thick it's unbelievable. Make sure you real them all, because there's some that will cheer you up on a **** day, and some are worthy of signature material. It actually amazes me at times how some of the wums had the intelligence to work out how to sign up for this website.
Wums, I haven't seen a decent one yet, the ones we have are rubbish, the Spurs fans comebacks are always good for a laugh if nothing else.
As has been said, most of them are no problem as they generally have the I.Q. Of a ******ed hamster. There are one or two slightly more subtle ones, but none that I've thought were particularly challenging. As Notso says, most of them just get a smacked bottom and sent on their way.
just wanna point out, i'm not in any way saying the mods don't do a great job, for free too (i assume). There aren't that many WUMs on this site, but they are quite prolific, that is the problem, threads just get totally swamped. You can probably work out the thread that tipped me over the edge. It started with a decent question, thought i might join in. Then 3 pages of WUM arguing later i couldn't be bothered and the point of the thread had gone.
I love wumming the wum's,i have to hold myself back though as they are all a bit ******ed,they might not realise, what's happening
I agree with SoS, I quite enjoy the sport of slapping down a wum post here and there. I can see what Spurm's saying though, it can be a bit annoying but a lot of the time it's basically just predictably biased opinion which is difficult to justify cracking down on and I'm not sure we'd want to go down that route. Bale seems to be the cause of virtually all the interest in our board from non-Spurs fans at the moment but Arsenal have had it worse lately with a lot more wanting to express their opinions whether the Gooners want to endlessly discuss it or not. We'll see how it goes here over the next few weeks but I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to get busier as the battle for 3rd/4th really hots up which will ultimately bring more wumming with it. As mods we're only trying to keep the board as Spurs fans would want it so your feedback always helps us, anyone feeling like they don't want to post when they get on the site is obviously a concern. We just ask that you don't go hurling insults at users that annoy you because it just gives us work and if we didn't delete the posts we'd end up with loads of foul-mouthed arguments which would put even more of our users off. It's not a case of treating you like naughty kids, I know we're all old enough to swear but we prefer to avoid threads to turn into long, off-topic arguments and personal abuse, it only exasperates the problem as those that use the forum to talk about Spurs are put off from posting. It's also worth keeping in mind that us mods don't see every post and certainly not always straight away so if you see something you want removed then it's best to PM us as we can deal with it quicker. It might seem like I'm on here 24/7 ( ) but I'll often only look at one or two threads throughout the day to continue a debate. I've only just seen this thread, for example.
Well they are getting so desperate over there, they have even got a thread having a pop at Garth Crooks and David Pleat as commentators. Wonder why they have picked on those 2 specifically???? Sad ****ers, those Goons.
to be fair, they've got a point with David Pleat. This is the man who has been known for getting spurs players names wrong, which is totally inexcusable for someone like him! Mal-brank, Chimbomba, Jen-as.
YV, would the foul mouthed arguments really put users off? I think my bad language is probably enough to do so, regardless of the arguments!
Wasn't it Pleat that also said "Mod-Rick"? I always laughed when I heard his name pronounced that way.
Please don't knock David Pleat lads, he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of London's red light district .
