Don't normally bother with either the opening or closing ceremonies and had no intention of watching this one but turned over and thought I would give it 5 minutes. I ended up watching for 3 hours totally hooked - some bits were better than others but overall it was fantastic. As we wheeled out one after another musical legend (including Eric Idle) I found myself thinking that no ther country in the world could do this as well as us. I'll be a bit lost today with no Olympics to look at - I think I will now start panicking about the lack of signings instead.
