There is news today that the Napoli Chairman is looking to buy a club in England and try to do something very similar to what has been done at watford. Its at the bottom of todays BBC gossip column if anybody wants to check it out ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/gossip/ ) Anyway I was thinking about this sort of arrangement and I still couldn't work out if I would be in favour of it if it happened to the Gills. Now I'm in no way saying that it will be us because I imagine they would be after a Championship with the view of promotion to the Premier League within a year. Would anyone be in favour of this? Risking long term stability for short term success? Thoughts if we actually became Napoli B?
I believe the football league want to stamp this out before it gets out of control. An Italian club were last week linked to buying Middlesbrough, i think?
My immediate reaction is to say No. However, I never ever did take the time and trouble to follow what actually happened at Watford, so can someone explain? Also just noted at the end of gfclukey's comment the wording 'Napoli B'. Well you can shove that idea you know where - lol
Loans from abroad are recognised as ''transfers'' on a one season basis by the football league! Watford took advantage of this, but looks like the football league have seen this as an error when you can only sign 2 players on loan from a single domestic club!! Watford signed 14 players on loan, but the signing of the lad from chelsea was the only one designated an actual loan!
