Home draw against Reading doesn't help us. But Hughes won't get fired after a draw. Desperately need to inject some confidence and belief. Appointing Harry would be the quickest way to achieve that. But if Tony waits for another 4 or 5 games it'll be too much of a mountain to climb.
I believe it could be too late already. If we are (and im afraid that we are) continuing to start matches like today, then we always will be one or two goals down before we start to play. Hughes clearly cant sort it out and if he stays on charge it will be too late. How difficult it is to train experinced players to defend against corner kicks and crosses...??? Today we lose almost every crosses in the both side of the pitch. Anybody remeber what is Stoke Citys strongest department........?
If TF keeps backing MH, I would prefer it if he also tells us there is a plan for the championship. If not, he better think of one soon.
Defence was our problem last season and MH did nothing to properly address it. Even a new manager would be riding his luck till January and there's no guarantee we'll sort it out properly then. We are in the brown stuff and sinking fast...
Although I dont want Hughes to go,mainly because I dont want us to get in the habit of sacking a manager everytime we lose like we did in the past. I have to agree with you. This defence looks worse than the one we had under NW.
Cheer up you negatives. We really should have won today, as we should have done against Everton, but the improvement is coming, albeit slowly, and this is a frankly piss poor division. 78 points to play for and I'll be going to Stoke with some optimism.
Have supported Sparky through thick and thin,, and yes a pi** poor division and yes we can get out of it....But we won't because we have no faith, no one (except Mackie believes)...Sparky is not convincing them they can win..Am now worried...no nearly giving up. It is very very nearly too late
It's not often a manager the calibre of Harry is available. Tony was quick to fire warnock. He needs to do the same again now to give us a chance of staying up. Harry would be an inspired appointment.
That's a quite unbelievable post mate. I've just got back and the first half was, without doubt, the worst we have played all season. As Beth has now realised, Hughes simply isn't getting the best out of this group of players. 4-4- ****ing 2 again....getting completely out-passed in the middle of the park for all of the first half. Clueless!
I find myself in the same position as Beth. Having kept the faith, I'm feeling pretty let down. You're dead right about MH not getting the best out of the talent we have, Col. Not only tactically as you have said, but in terms of motivation. The players desire in the first half was woeful. Some of the players are just going through the motions and taking their pay cheque at the end of the week. We've now played 10 games and the table doesn't lie. I don't envy TF. He may give MH until the Sunderland game, but if the upturn isn't pretty clear by then, no one will call him a Briatore for changing manager. Incidentally, no sign of Amit Bhatia today again or indeed any of the Mittals. I'm wondering whether the MH issue is the cause of the rift.
Very good post Goldie and great to speak to you again today. Fernandes has made the sacking of Hughes incredibly difficult for himself and there could well be a rift at the top about just how long we keep the clueless Hughes.
Did I not understand that tone was meeting fans after the match to answer questions?? Anyone know if this actually happened?
We deserved the win today but then again we were slow, technically unapt and relied too much on AT, Diakite and Grenero - forget about the rest. This was a really disappointing result and performance and I do not see any improvement after 10 games. Traore and especially Bosingwa played horrible football today and I wonder why the coach kept them in the game - I do not have any faith in our coach anymore.
