You optimist. I can't see England winning it, myself, but it shouldn't stop me from enjoying the competition.

I am writing to the FA to ask how Woy justifies leaving Ryan at home when they Smalling and Jones as cover for Cahill and Jags!

    Absolute disgrace!

Last nights opener for once was quite an entertaining game and I thought Croatia did very well and were well in the game until the penalty decision. Quite soft really as Corluka hardly touched Fred who went down far too easily IMO. Lots of us have said this before but the game is fast becoming a non-contact sport and some players are taking full advantage.

Nevertheless a win for Brazil is good and hopefully sets things up for a good tournament.

Wow, what can I say - Spain could be going home or playing Brazil in the 1st knockout stages!

    Robben was spectacular tonight.

5-1 is an amazing result to get, especially against Spain in the world cup!

Yup didn't see that coming, Robben has improved with age.
Van Persies effort was none too shabby either.

    Good luck to England

    Hart
    Johnson, Cahill, Jag, Baines
    Sterling, Henderson, Gerrard, Welbeck
    Sturridge, Rooney

Thoughts? I would have gone for Lallana myself but let's hope the lads do well.

Watched it and I must say I thought Woy got it all wrong. Thoughts the lads worked hard and tried to get forward but the for me the selection and tactics were wrong. We didn't play the best players in their most natural positions and it showed and to come out at half time with only 35% possession said it all. I'm not going to criticise individual players, but there were some that looked out of their depth and others that looked nothing like the player they are fir their club.

Thr scary thing for me is that Italy were no great shakes and didn't play with a huge amount of pace, something we will see far more from with the other teams.

Oh well chin up, you never know.

I'm surprised anybody is surprised, Hodgson didn't even pick the correct squad. Never mind the correct team. A useless, past it, yes man type....safe pair of hands blah blah blah.

I still think England have a chance of qualifying for the knock-out stages because they have a good chance of beating Uruguay on Thursday. They were average against Costa Rica and were deservedly beaten. Lose against Uruguay and we are coming home early!

If we cannot beat a Uruguay side that play no better than they did against Costa Rica ( no offence to C. R's ) then we will not deserve to progress.
