I find it very hard to understand why if we sign a player from out-with europe he will be unable to play for arsenal or any other english team for that matter until he has been accepted as an excellent sporting athlete. It happened with ryo miachi last season and now it has happened with joel campbell, both of whom are outstanding talents. Clearly the fa or the government or whoever deals with these issue can understand that they players are exceptional talents, hence the fact that arsenal have signed them. Myiachi impressed on loan at feyernood last season and campbell is doing very well at l'orient having already scored 2 goals, however they are going to have to completely adapt to the english game this season for myiachi and next season for campbell. At the very least these players should be allowed to go on loan to an english or british team just so they can get used to the fast-paced nature of the english game and to be honest they should be given a work permit immediantly. However it just gives us arsenal fans something to look forward to as both are exceptional players with skill technique and blinding pace.

I think it's a bad thing, but to be honest they would most likely have gone out on loan anyway had they been granted permits. The loan for Ryo got him used to European football at a slightly lower level than the Prem making it a step-wise progression. The same thing is true of Campbell. He's playing in a good league, for a good team, that's just a little below the Premiership. It's better than him languishing in the reserves for a couple of years.

I'm all in favour of loaning out as MANY players as possible to get them experience of playing every week for real teams with real needs for results.

Any player over the age of 18 not in the first team squad in my opinion should be loaned out. Get their wages off the books and give them experience. Even if they're on loan to 3 different teams for 3 years before they make their 1st team breakthrough it's worth it. Gets their wages off the books too and Arsene can look at them in pre-season etc. to determine their level for the next season.
