I also think this, mind . . . . We could learn a bit from the lasses, like how to behave ourselves at football matches. Our proper footballers could watch and realise that they don't need to throw themselves about the pitch after every tackle. Also, the lasses know how to win a tournament
Wish they would stop with the 'footballs coming home' ****e! I'm pleased for them. But the media trying the hardest to push this down our throat as if its an equal helping to what we'd swallow if it was a men's game success is quite embarrassing.

We were thrown out because we would not invest in going professional. It was still an awful thing to do as we were established in the top flight . If we had not been thrown out we would have either fallen behind on the pitch and have been relegated, or we would have started to invest to stay at the top. No matter what the rise and fall of the club should be based on football not a committee decision.
While I agree with you about comparing the men's and women's game, this was no secondary tournament for them.
Victory against any other nation wouldn't have been half as satisfying as against these arrogant Germans. At the final whistle the look of disbelief on the faces was oh so sweet.
You're right, Jarca . . . . it isn't for them, but in football it is a secondary competition. Apart from the women's World Cup (assuming that there is one) this is the highest level for them, and nowhere near the highest level in football
i'm pleased for the women....but to suggest the wait is over for a trophy for our national side is way off the mark. The two simply do not, and will never, compare
From what little I have seen and what I have seen from England mind, the technical ability and skill has been way higher than I assumed. They have scored some very good goals.
Is that just trying to save the mens blushes? If an English women wins Wimbledon and men have not won it for decades? Also to beat the country that usually beat the men.
It's just that the women's game will never generate the passion that the men's game generates. However on the other side of the coin it will never generate the grotesque financial dealings and fan rank stupidity and violence that the men's game attracts. Why should they strive to become equal to the men's game? We all know, under the surface, the men's game stinks. The women's game, as it stands, has raw naive charm and fun about it. The way it is now is maybe nearer to how football should be?

They were showing the scenes of them winning, I thought "Fantastic", then the talk about them winning turned political very quickly, I then thought "F**k off" and over the channel turned.
I was watching BBC news this morning when they brought on a black lass who used to play football for England (2009 I think they said) to talk about yesterday, and the only thing that I got from it was her whingeing about diversity. England's team was, presumably, the best of those available . . . . why do black people always want to bring 'race' into it Like whenever Ian Wright appears, I had to change channels (again)
Haven't seen it and haven't really watched any of the tournament. I'm generally a rubbish football fan tbh, other than the lads I can never be arsed to sit for two hours and watch football. But teams should 100% be picked on talent not to get a bit of diversity in there.
Been watching women's footy properly since the 2015 World Cup, I got right into it and even got up at a stupid hour to watch us get knocked out by Japan!. Since then I've caught the odd Sunderland Women match, most of the televised England Matches and was even there for the SOL friendly against Austria after that massive storm which left tree's uprooted and blocking many roads (I didn't expect many to attend and they bloody well did in large numbers) I don't expect everyone to get into Womens footy as its a different beast to men's football (and this is a good thing in my honest opinion). Me and the missus got absolutely drunk as skunks last night while watching and have enjoyed every minute, long live Womens footy!
Magnificent lasses. What a team they are, and what a bloody good coach they have. I wonder how long before a club go for a female coach like her. The German lasses were aggressive and at times over the top. But I loved it and they gave as good as they got. Great to see a physical battle without any whining and play acting. Absolutely loved seeing Jill Scot getting stuck in - what a player she is. All in all a really enjoyable tournament. When you compare it to 10 years ago the improvement is ridiculous. Technically it is a great game to watch and some of the goals we have seen have been amazing. Toone's yesterday was pure class. It has been very entertaining and winning a major tournament takes a hell of a lot of doing. Great memories, thanks Lasses.
Moved on to bigger things. Must be wondering about that decision now. After all, the last two England Managers who won a World Cup, both got Knighted. Sir Alf for 1966, then Sir Clive for the Rugby in 2003. Still, he has the sunshine to cheer himself up with and the Huricane Season isn't too far away!!
