Found an Alsace Methode Champenoise at Lidl in France for E3.99 (£3.50) Bought three dozen.Better than any Cava and not far short of some of the budget Champagnes at four times the price.
I'll gie that a go. She likes bubbles and I buy her 3 or four bottles a week so if I can switch her onto summat cheap without her catching on it's a win for me
Mrs Gas likes the bubbly. I think the opening of the bottle reminds her of me shooting my muck. Every time she opens one I get an urge to roll over and go to sleep.
Twats I despise people who harp on about wine and how it must be a certain kind. It's a ****in drink get over it.
<grin> When yer on the slidey slope to alcoholic oblivion it's best to take someone down with ye She normally has one bottle on a Wednesday night, and two on the Friday or Staturday. And a fourth if I go over hers on both the Friday and Saturday.
I like a rioja, or a pinot noir, or a grenache, at the moment. Went off heavy reds like merlot a long time ago and still don't fancy them. For whites, yep a nice crisp sancerre can hit the spot, as does a pinot grigio.
Gone off red wine recently - used to prefer anything with a Tempranillo blend (so, most riojas) I had a white rioja for the first time last Friday - never noted what the actual grapes were - getting the same bottle out of Marks tonight. The guy I mentioned on the Celtic board that advised me on my Dutch pronunciation is a wine merchant - runs his own business and tasting events etc, occasionally, he'll put me on to some proper wine-snob material if he's stocking it cheap. Guy's advice never lets you down
Currently drinking Harbour india pale ale. Not wine i know, but would also love a joint right about now
My dad used to make us Green King shandies in the beer garden of the Rose and crown with a bag of crisps..
