Just back from a short US break where the Premier League doesn't exist. Just caught fleeting glimpses of a couple of matches in an Irish bar but heard results from family and was gutted, though not surprised, at the Sunderland loss.

It's clear that we are not as good as we would like to believe we are. Matches we have bossed have produced draws rather than wins and that is what is worrying and puts us in the league at the bottom we have to win. The table doesn't lie, look at the goal difference of the bottom five teams and that tells you they are the five worst teams in the division and our defence is the main problem.

The window opens next week and we have to get it right and, preferably, at the beginning of the window so there is more time for new signings to gel. Despite the obvious need for a goalscorer as well as defenders I really think a creative midfielder is urgently needed as well. If Taarabt has attained fitness he should be given a chance in the next two or three games as a make or break gamble, we have nothing to lose if he fails, he can then be sold before the window closes and hopefully a new creative spark can be added to the team.

Those awaiting Defoe could be disappointed, listening to Harry last night on my way home from Heathrow he was praising up Defoe and didn't sound like he'd be going anywhere. Whatever happens we have to get it right quickly or we will be in a real dogfight, I don't think my nerves could take the strain.

Good post mate and welcome back. Some people on this board have not fully realised yet that we are relegation fodder and in a desperate situation. They are still dreaming about performances that should have produced more points and our ability to play better and finish much higher in the league. We are in the sh1te. It was to be expected. We are a newly promoted team who can't score, are leaking goals like a sieve and have a manager who won't drop the players who are not performing. FFS, its obvious to all but those who are most affected (ie, us).
Most on here now realise that our current team and squad is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Everyone here is hoping that we sign enough quality players in Jan to stay up. Nobody has asked what happens if we can't get the players we need. Everybody is assuming that we will go out and buy the 4-5-6 playes that we need to survive. Thats my biggest fear. There will be at least 5-6 other clubs who are in exactly the same position as us and need to acquire players. We should not take the transfer window in Jan for granted. It will be a long tense month.

The right players a) have to be available. b) have to be within budget. c) choose to play for us in an older stadium in front of crowds of 18,000 instead of newer stadiums holding 30,000 +. d) add to the squad we have now not just supplement it. e) be good enough that other teams want them as well and still come to LR. NOT MUCH TO ASK REALLY IS IT?
So please don't expect miracles even though on paper we have more money available than some other clubs in our situation. Trust TF and NW to do the very best they can for QPR and us supporters and hopefully it will be enough at the end of the season.
I have supported QPR since 1954 and have thought about supporting more successful teams over the years but just never could find a way not to be an R!.
Here's to a very Happy New Year.
