A scouse mate told me he'd got a trampoline for the kids off the internet. I asked him which website. He told me GoogleMaps.

A school boy in liverpool was challenged in class as he was the only everton supporter in the room, all others supporting the reds. When asked why he said that his mother was an everton fan, his dad was an everton fan and his uncles were everton fans, so he supported everton. To make a point that you didn't need to follow your parents lead, the teacher said, what if your dad was a drug adict and your mother a prostitute. The lad said if that were the cae, THEN he'd be a liverpool supporter.

Now look you lot - amongst all this dross, there was a serious football question to be answered!

    It was this: -

I have to go out for an hour or two, and when I come back, I want to see some serious answers. Thank you - over and out for now

In my day it was 1-2-3-5.

    Goalkeeper

    2 x Full Backs

    2 x Half Backs & Centre Half

5 Forwards (outside right, inside right, centre forward, inside left, outside left).

Bet Sparks can go back more than that.

Pace in midfield, hmmmm, let me think........

How about Usain Bolt, Oscar Pistorious, Yohan Blake and that Irish guy, Jason Smyth?

    That lot fast enough?

Who said anything about football skills although Bolt has been promised some pitch time at ManU?

I think we should play Mcnaughts permanently on the wing, as he can really cross the ball and find a man with a pass.<whistle><whistle><whistle>

OK - just back from Sainsburys <laugh>......and Porthcawl is afloat. <doh> I think I'll build an ark.

Look DJ, I can remember footballs with laces that trebled their weight on a wet day. When you went up for a header, you came back down with a headache and a lacerated forehead.

I usually played No.10 inside left (bit like Johnny Haines <whistle> ) and had the good fortune to play with a centre forward called Alan Hughes for a few years. He was about 9 stone soaking wet, but by Christ, everything he hit seemed to go in. They may have just dribbled over the line sometimes, but he kept the keepers lead-footed with his anticipation. Over the line is a goal - that was good enough for him.

If I had a shot, it needed to be a net-buster or I wasn't happy. More often than not, they went over the bar on a dry day or never reached the keeper when it was wet..........<laugh>

    Sparkey,

I used to play number 17 when there was only 1 sub allowed.

In the terrible Flu outbreak of '64 I was picked to play against the blind school, we lost 3 - 0

No one told us they were venetian

Bluey - as a youngster, Bridgend YM in the Bridgend and District playing at such exotic locations as Wyndham Park, Ogmore Vale and The Carn, Blaengarw (used to have a lot of good mates playing for Garw 33 Boys Club). Their big local rivals were Garw Athletic - Not my favourite team at that time along with Bettws and Llangynwyd - they were animals. <doh>

I had to move away with my student apprenticeship so it all went tits up locally. Later I played half a season in the South Wales Amateur League for Bryntirion and then went to Bridgend Town in the Welsh League for a short while. Wasn't there long - went oop north with contract work.

I used to be quite a regular at Boothferry Road for a couple of years - watching not playing!........<laugh>

You know DJ - that's uncanny. I actually played cricket for Bridgend Boys Grammar against Bridgend Blindschool. It was the first white ball I'd ever played with - like a hockey ball and had a bell inside.

I learn't my lesson at an early age about giving any quarter to the opposition. I got hit all over the bloody ground before I realised their team was made up from teachers and some partially sighted pupils.................<laugh>
